Explores the current landscape of composting and waste management in the Walla Walla, WA region, with a particular focus on College Place, WA. Through a comprehensive site visit to the Sudbury Landfill and detailed interviews with key figures in its operations, this study reveals significant insights into the challenges and opportunities associated with community composting in the area - and by transference, in many small towns. The study identifies scale as a major issue, with financial barriers and the absence of a curbside collection service limiting the size of the effort. However, this paper suggests ways to expand the composting infrastructure through partnerships with local farmers and schools, along with community engagement and education efforts.
