Description
When exposed to abiotic stresses, Escherichia coli responds by activating various stress-mitigating pathways. Initiation of stress responses partially relies on the RNA polymerase (RNAP) to transcribe genes necessary to tolerate various stresses, including nutritional deprivation and heat exposure.
