Description
The purpose of this thesis research project is to explore blockchain technology and its present and future applications within supply chain management. Emerging blockchain technologies, both public and private, are already showing great promise for a number of applications in and outside supply chain management. Our sole focus is to understand the fundamentals of blockchain, smart contracts, current applications in supply chain, and the future possibilities for blockchain to shape global supply chains. Many have theorized about how private blockchains can be implemented and used; however, there is little research to date that has collected and explored the actual use cases in industry today. The mission of this research paper is to separate theory from the current state of the technology and provide a clearer understanding of where the technology is headed in the near future. We aim to produce a work that will provide a comprehensive description and commentary on current use cases for the education of students and industry professionals alike. With any new technological developments, terminology and technicalities can be paralyzing, and this is particularly true for blockchain technology. For this project, our goal was to create a document that cuts through the complexities and allows a non-technical audience to gain a strong foundational understanding of blockchain's potential and current limitations within supply chains. Provided this, some highly technical concepts and implementation details will not be explored due to the complexity and minimal understanding even amongst industry experts. As future supply chain professionals, we are motivated to further our understanding of blockchain technologies and the potential for this technology to shape the future of supply chain management.

This creative group project aims to bring visibility to the diversity of the LGBTQ+ community at Arizona State University by sharing the personal stories and opinions of people from across ASU's rainbow spectrum. Created and produced by a gay couple that met in their first year dorm and a passionate ally, gAySU: Exploring Sparky's Rainbow is a compilation of photos, videos, and stories from ASU students, faculty, and staff that identify with the LGBTQ+ community. When reflecting on their own journey over the past three years, gAySU's creators recognized ASU can feel large with many pockets of communities, yet through trial and error over the past 4 years they managed to explore their identities and grow as individuals, as a couple, and as an ally. By sharing their story and the stories of others, it is the hope that gAySU allows its readers and viewers an insight into what it means to be both a Sun Devil and LGBTQ+, and for those new to or anxious to identify with the LGBTQ+ community, to understand they are not alone in their journey and that it is okay to bleed maroon, gold, and all other colors of the rainbow.

Abstract The purpose of this study is to draw attention to problematic peer behaviors experienced among older adults in low income housing. Antagonistic behaviors including peer bullying are commonly associated with youth yet they also occur among older adults. This study shares findings from a recent study of negative social interactions among older adults in independent low-income housing. Using a sample size of 11 tenants, and semi-structured interviews, this author used thematic analysis to code and categorize themes. This author found that common themes included types of behaviors experienced, contributing factors, interventions and perceived barriers to interventions. Results indicated that tenants experienced a variety of antagonistic behaviors including verbal, physical and relational aggression. The most common behaviors reported were verbal threatening (36.4%) and being gossiped about (54.4%). The least common reported were physical behaviors (27.3%). Tenants reported the most common contributing factor for the aggressor's actions as having mental health or emotional issues (45.5%), whereas they reported physical disability as the most common contributing factor in those who were victimized (54.5%). Individuals reported responding to these behaviors most commonly through isolation, withdrawal, and avoidance. Findings suggest the need for interventions to minimize bullying and other antagonistic behaviors in low-income housing. Additionally, findings suggest the need to help those who are mistreated to find ways to address the bullying in more positive ways. Keywords: themes, behaviors, factors, interventions, barriers

A desk provides an interesting forum between two people. The first party sits behind the desk while the second approaches with a question. The desk presents itself as a stage for the drama of that conversation to take place; as all furniture and property do, we naturally make assumptions about the owner based on the things they possess. Just as a Ferrari says one thing while a truck says something different, our furniture conveys a similar sensation. The desk is special because it acts as a stage - it can create a very subtle first impression of the person who owns it. The question then becomes, "what should I try to convey through the desk I sat behind?". If someone walked into my office and looked strictly at my desk, what impression would I want to give them about who I am as an individual? I conjunction with this question about the design of the desk itself comes to another question about the materials used. This thesis goes into the symbolic nature of wood in modern and ancient times across cultures, explores wood in modern construction today and explores the source of the wood used in this specific project through a supplier analysis of Porter Barn Wood. Porter Barn Wood is a local Phoenix company that specializes in reclaimed barn wood delivered from the east coast. Determining the story of how the wood got to Phoenix and to the company that made it possible was just as important to the story of the desk as the wood itself. Overall, this project explored my ability to construct a desk and build a story around that piece of art while maintaining a business mindset throughout. It was eye-opening to me and I would encourage you to read further!

This project, Building the Backdrop, Expanding Perspectives on Sustainability, is a sculpture of a desert sunset that seeks to explore important sustainability issues and highlight the beauty in sustainable practices. Constructed for an honors thesis project at Arizona State University, the primary medium used was cardboard repurposed from package deliveries to bring attention to modern overconsumption of packaging materials and showcase our ability to give new life to traditionally single use materials. I invite you to interact with the piece by sharing photos of yourself in front of it to help spread its message and exploring the resources shared along with the sculpture.

In the early 1960’s, there was a socio-political movement in the Black people in the United States for them to look more natural through their hair, which lead to the popularization of the afro style during this time. After a few decades, the natural style fell off and many Black women started chemically treating their hair or using excessive heat to straighten it. However, today, natural hair for Black people and non-Black people is a constant topic in social spaces, politics, and pop culture. I would consider this to be a new wave of appreciation for Black hair with a conversation crafted specifically around new thoughts about race in the 21st century. This thesis will examine the views on Black hair both historically and currently in the United States from a sociological lens. For my research, I aim to examine definitions of terms related to Black hair in order to help others learn how Black people understand and speak about their own hair; to explore how the history behind the hair has shaped the current day conversations of Black hair; and the representations of Black hair in literature, film, television, and on the Internet on platforms such as YouTube and Instagram in order to understand how people speak and think about Black hair in the 21st century.

Over time, physics has evolved to include new and interesting findings that have changed the way the world is viewed. An interesting topic in the world of physics is quantum mechanics. Quantum mechanics can be interpreted in many ways, however, the two most notable interpretations, which will be discussed in this thesis, are the Copenhagen Interpretation and the Many Worlds Interpretation. These interpretations set out to define the ways in which quantum mechanics should be approached and studied. They give a foundation for which physicists should build upon and continue to improve. This thesis begins with an overview of important classical concepts helpful in understanding the differences between the classical and quantum worlds. Following this, superposition will be introduced along with the Copenhagen and Many Worlds Interpretations. In addition to these interpretations, other important topics such as decoherence, spin, entanglement, what is quantum, deterministic vs indeterminacy and Schrödinger’s wave function will be discussed. Overall, this thesis will compare the Copenhagen Interpretation and Many Worlds Interpretation and provide important information which is helpful in understanding the world of quantum mechanics.

We discuss the intricate and puzzling concept of quantum entanglement, and not only
define it but also consider the implications of the behaviors of entangled particles. The ability of
these particles to provide instantaneous information about their entangled counterparts sparked a debate among physicists as to whether or not these particles had definite quantities before
measurement, and whether or not their behaviors could be explained by a local hidden-variables
theorem. Mermin’s gedanken demonstration for a two-particle entangled system is introduced, as well as Bell’s inequality, and an explanation of how a pair of two entangled particles violate this inequality. Additionally, we also discuss various experimental verifications that were able to use Bell’s inequality to verify the expected quantum mechanical results for their entangled systems.

This study focuses on the connection between musical rhythm and dyslexia. Dyslexia has long been a disability that has been studied, but not one that researchers have a particular or in-depth treatment for. There has been a long time of research on the connection between dyslexia and creativity. This has led to looking at how dyslexic students are often found in art schools and engage in creativity. This has led to a new wave of research into EEG and how dyslexia occurs, including what causes dyslexia. This connection is proposed through the temporal sampling deficit hypothesis that theorizes “neuroelectric oscillations that encode incoming information at different frequencies could explain the perceptual and phonological difficulties with syllables, rhymes and phonemes,” (Goswami, 2011). My research aims to go further into the theory that dyslexia is caused by phonological perception and rapid timing skills (Overy et al., 2001). Music has many of these underlying deficits within it, so my theory is that dyslexic people have rhythm deficits, therefore, music therapy would be helpful in learning dyslexia. This paper does not find a negative correlation between dyslexia and rhythm. The trend points to dyslexic participants responding to claps faster and more accurately. All participants made a trend of fewer errors and faster responses the second time they heard a clap pattern. This leads to an inconclusive conclusion that requires more investigation to confirm whether this is statistically significant.
