In the medical industry, there have been promising advances in the increase of new types of healthcare to the public. As of 2015, there was a 98% Premarket Approval rate, a 38% increase since 2010. In addition, there were 41 new novel drugs approved for clinical usage in 2014 where the average in the previous years from 2005-2013 was 25. However, the research process towards creating and delivering new healthcare to the public remains remarkably inefficient. It takes on average 15 years, over $900 million by one estimate, for a less than 12% success rate of discovering a novel drug for clinical usage. Medical devices do not fare much better. Between 2005-2009, there were over 700 recalls per year. In addition, it takes at minimum 3.25 years for a 510(k) exempt premarket approval. Plus, a time lag exists where it takes 17 years for only 14% of medical discoveries to be implemented clinically. Coupled with these inefficiencies, government funding for medical research has been decreasing since 2002 (2.5% of Gross Domestic Product) and is predicted to be 1.5% of Gross Domestic Product by 2019. Translational research, the conversion of bench-side discoveries to clinical usage for a simplistic definition, has been on the rise since the 1990s. This may be driving the increased premarket approvals and new novel drug approvals. At the very least, it is worth considering as translational research is directly related towards healthcare practices. In this paper, I propose to improve the outcomes of translational research in order to better deliver advancing healthcare to the public. I suggest Best Value Performance Information Procurement System (BV PIPS) should be adapted in the selection process of translational research projects to fund. BV PIPS has been shown to increase the efficiency and success rate of delivering projects and services. There has been over 17 years of research with $6.3 billion of projects and services delivered showing that BV PIPS has a 98% customer satisfaction, 90% minimized management effort, and utilizes 50% less manpower and effort. Using University of Michigan \u2014 Coulter Foundation Program's funding process as a baseline and standard in the current selection of translational research projects to fund, I offer changes to this process based on BV PIPS that may ameliorate it. As concepts implemented in this process are congruent with literature on successful translational research, it may suggest that this new model for selecting translational research projects to fund will reduce costs, increase efficiency, and increase success. This may then lead to more Premarket Approvals, more new novel drug approvals, quicker delivery time to the market, and lower recalls.

The United States criminal justice system seemingly contradicts the staples of freedom that the country was founded upon. Given that the U.S. leads the world in rate of imprisonment, "the land of the free" is actually better described as "the land of the imprisoned". Yet despite such meteoric imprisonment rates, there is no evidence that United States citizens commit more crimes than citizens of other countries. This leads to the deduction that there is a fundamental difference between the United States criminal justice system and that of other countries. While different does not always mean worse, it is undoubtable that the United States is currently facing a financial dilemma due to housing so many criminals. Further, prosecution of such a large number of citizens has led to a dichotomy in society that perpetuates recidivism among those imprisoned. Thus, reform activists are growing in number as the incarceration problem continues to perpetuate. Information Measurement Theory, a modern school of thought, is applied in this paper in order to develop practical improvements to the American criminal justice system. Information Measurement Theory is aptly named because it proposes universal axioms based upon the various levels of information perceived by human beings. It has already improved performance dynamics in various areas of business; therefore it has a great opportunity for success in refining the American prison industry. Staples of Information Measurement Theory allow the individual to simplify complex situations. Hence, it can be applied to simplify the conditions that have led to the current U.S. incarceration predicament. Three different specific areas of U.S. criminal justice will be addressed, and solutions will be presented that are complimentary to Information Measurement Theory fundamentals.

This abstract is intended to explain the main ideas and thoughts pertaining to the author's experiences over time while attending Arizona State University and how certain course teachings have created a more positive outcome in life for the author. The goal of this Independent Study Thesis is to convey the great significance that the Information Measurement Theory (IMT) courses' ideas and teachings have contributed to the author's life and how they have increased the author's overall quality and outlook on life, not only from an academic standpoint and setting, but also in every facet. Based on this, the author's intention is to convey the new skills obtained regarding The Kashiwagi Solution Model (KSM) as they pertain to Information Measurement Theory (IMT), based on the author's own recent experiences in college with what he has learned, and to explain how they have helped tremendously. This is mainly comprised of information based on the external sources and writings of Dr. Dean Kashiwagi, and also direct resources and teachings by Dr. Dean Kashiwagi and Dr. Jacob Kashiwagi that have greatly contributed to the author's overall understanding of Information Measurement Theory (IMT), its revolutionary new ways of thinking, and the new skill sets developed from it as well. This will also focus on the benefits that can occur for anyone by applying the various aspects of The Kashiwagi Solution Model (KSM), through the use of the concepts of Information Measurement Theory (IMT), and to convey the author's findings pertinent to helping mitigate stress in life, while also being able to enter into any situation or event with a more positive mindset in order to help conclude that event successfully and with the increased potential for a more positive outcome. This idea of always striving to have a more positive mindset in order to complete a task, goal, or event in life in a more positive and successful way is exactly what the author will focus on, mostly pertaining to the author's own life experiences, referred to as Mind Over Matter with IMT. This Thesis idea of Mind Over Matter with IMT stems from some of the main aspects that the author found to be most impressive and significant in the honors courses offered at ASU by Dr. Dean Kashiwagi and Dr. Jacob Kashiwagi, mainly because of the fact that they inform students of some new ways to help mitigate stresses and anxieties in their lives and to more accurately predict the outcome of future events based on using deductive logic and expertise. This leads to focusing more on dominant information in order to obtain the key ideas and main points of any situation, rather than requiring additional and superfluous details, data, and minutia. The fact that the courses also focus on natural laws and initial conditions of events have proven to be extremely useful because of their significant importance to determining the final conditions and concluding outcome of events, of which many people tend to not even be aware at first when initially learning about Information Measurement Theory (IMT). Because of this, the Deductive Logic and Information Measurement Theory courses offered at ASU have proven to offer invaluable insight, great knowledge, unique ideas, and alternative ways of thinking to the author, which have contributed greatly to the author's increased success as a student enrolled at Arizona State University over these past years. The introduction of novel information technology within contemporary healthcare settings presents a critical juncture for the industry and thus lends itself to the importance of better understanding the impact of this emerging "health 2.0" landscape. Simply, how such technology may affect the healthcare system is still not fully realized, despite the ever-growing need to adopt it in order to serve a growing patient population. Thus, two pertinent questions are posed: is HIT useful and practical and, if so, what is the best way to implement it? This study examined the clinical implementation of specific instances of health information technology (HIT) so as to weigh its benefits and risks to ultimately construct a proposal for successful widespread adoption. Due to the poignancy of information analysis within HIT, Information Measurement Theory (IMT) was used to measure the effectiveness of current HIT systems as well as to elucidate improvements for future implementation. The results indicate that increased transparency, attention to patient-focused approaches and proper IT training will not only allow HIT to better serve the community, but will also decrease inefficient healthcare expenditure.

Exercise is a great boon to both the health of individuals and the national as a whole. Exercise provides a wide range of significant and well established benefits to both physical and psychological health, with many benefits that are still being discovered. The effects of exercise on health are somewhat unique, as exercise is one of a limited number of ways to improve health that is not harm a reduction strategy, but instead increases health through direct benefit, rather than increasing health by decreasing damage and harm. Support is also given to the proposal that individuals are in best position to determine the intensity of exercise and to choose primary activities to participate in, in order to provide near maximum physical and psychological benefit, with the understanding that frequency of exercise is of the upmost importance for benefit. The accessibility of exercise and the tremendous health benefit of exercise, makes exercise a huge asset in reducing the exorbitant health care spending and improving mediocre health outcomes in this country; a reasonable goal as numerous countries have better health the United States, even though the United States spends the more than any other country on health.

This paper explores the intersection between principles of Information Measurement Theory (IMT) and sales techniques to identify a best value approach for sales professionals. Developed at Arizona State University and supported by numerous academic publications, IMT is a thinking paradigm that utilizes deductive logic and reasoning to understand how the world works and identify best value practices that minimize risk, decision making, and stress. One core concept of IMT is that individuals have no influence on the people around them, an idea that directly contradicts with traditional beliefs of the sales industry. The goal of this paper is to understand the qualities that make a sales professional successful from an IMT perspective, while outlining best value practices to apply in the real world. Comparison research for the sales industry was conducted by analyzing classic and modern sales literature, author participation in an industry-leading, professional sales training program, and input from sales professionals. The analysis identifies how top sales experts utilize techniques that allow them to efficiently uncover dominant information about their prospects' needs and then use that information to sell a valuable product to their customers. The analysis also outlines the common personality traits amongst well-aligned sales professionals. By adopting the practices and thinking paradigms outlined in this paper, individuals can maximize their potential in a sales career.

Abstract The purpose of this project is to utilize the models and concepts from Information Measurement Theory (IMT) to help minimize future decision making with respect to my career path. When I began this project, my future was clouded, my initial conditions were unknown, my stress over future career-path decisions was high, and I had eight possible career paths in mind. I have narrowed my career-path options from eight to four. In addition, I have determined a one-year plan that enables me to be prepared to pursue any of the four career paths that I have found align with me. In this project, I explored my dominant initial conditions with respect to my career path. I tracked the job history of my grandparents and parents. These efforts allowed me to identify the strengths and weaknesses that I was exhibiting by the age of three. Natural law dictates that the strengths and weaknesses of my younger self will be the same strengths and weakness that I excel at and struggle with today. I then used my understanding of natural law and the event model process to map the strengths and weaknesses of my parents and grandparents and to compare and contrast these to my strengths and weaknesses, including those that were apparent by the time that I was three years old. Focusing in on what I really want from a job, four main goals were established to grade the various future career-path options. Finally, I documented my transition from uncertainty to clarity. It began with my sobriety and ended with a milestone one-year plan that will give me information that I need to commit to my career path. This transition has had significant impact. The elusive "who am I" has been addressed, not completely but addressed sufficiently so that the question no longer plagues me. I know from where I have come. I have gained significant insight from those around me who know me. All of this has been documented for my own personal use, and for my children someday. This process permitted me to eliminate outliers from my eight original career paths, reducing them to four. In addition, application of IMT models and concepts has allowed me to see one year into the future. With my new-found knowledge, I will listen and watch the doors close on three of the remaining four career paths, as there is only one path I am meant to take.

Mindfulness-based stress reduction (MSBR) is a clinically standardized meditation process that has been shown to facilitate the treatment of a variety of mental and physical disorders. The known efficacy of mindfulness-based stress reduction is derived from research on participants who are defined as unhealthy in some form. The potential benefits of mindfulness-based stress reduction for individuals who are considered to be healthy is under-studied, as less attention has gone into this subject area. Information Measurement Theory is a predictive theory that simplifies reality, and through this logical simplification, allows people to predict and see into the future. The concepts that are central to Information Measurement theory are natural laws, unique conditions, and relationships of unique conditions between the past, present, and future and the event model. This project aims to answer the question of if individuals, who are considered to be healthy, experience the same beneficiary results, that mindfulness-based stress reduction models execute, through the conception and knowledge of Information Measurement Theory. This study aims to compare MBSR and IMT in order to determine the consequences of each on the individual. The purpose of this study is also to highlight the promising success that Leadership Society of Arizona has achieved through the teaching of IMT in leadership courses.

The purpose for this thesis is to analyze the past trends of international business and use that information to make conclusions for future events. In this paper, I explore the international business landscape since World War II, examine the five main cultural clusters, explore four different international business strategies, and draw conclusions based on logic derived from Dr. Dean Kashiwagi's Information Measurement Theory. It is my goal to develop rational conclusions based on acquiring as much information as possible. Specifically, the concepts of the "Event" and dominant information were used to predict future outcomes. A best value approach towards international management and strategic leadership is also explored in order to provide a framework for proper management techniques. My conclusions revolve around two main predictions: in the next thirty years a new manufacturing hub will emerge outside of Asia and as the world continues to globalize, cultural differences will blur and more firms will adopt a global standardization strategy as discussed in the Starbuck's case later in the paper.

The Information Measurement Theory (IMT) states that all information exists at any time and all the time, and that it's an individual lack of ability to perceive that creates the misperception that there is an absence of information. The Information Measurement Theory (IMT) states that all information exists at any time and all the time, and that it's an individual lack of ability to perceive that creates the misperception that there is an absence of information. This lack of perceived information creates subjective bias and limitations. IMT identifies decision-making and bias as the major obstacles to perfectly understanding reality. This study examines the IMT's correlation to romantic relationships and is designed to determine what factors and traits makes a romantic relationship successful. We collected data on 123 subjects: 56 individuals who were in committed romantic relationships and 67 individuals who were not. These individuals were asked fundamental questions on the IMT theory as well as their thoughts on what they define as a successful relationship. Participants in relationships were asked questions relating to their overall satisfaction level. Correlations were calculated between these satisfaction levels and an individual's perception of information. This study's overarching goal is to understand if successful relationships are determined by how much dominant information each individual involved in the relationship knows about each other, themselves, and other external factors.
