This report examines the presence and management of species at risk (SAR) on agricultural land in Kings County, Prince Edward Island (PEI). Furthermore, it assesses the role of government agencies and non-governmental organizations in supporting SAR and biodiversity across the county, situating these efforts within Canada’s commitments under the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework. Finally, this report also considers how the findings from Kings County, PEI reflect progress towards these international conservation goals. Key findings suggest that meeting national biodiversity targets requires a multi-pronged approach. Building trust between farmers and governmental agencies and leveraging local conservation groups, alongside biodiversity educational and financial incentives, is essential to mitigating SAR and preventing further species loss. Protecting biodiversity in agricultural landscapes ultimately safeguards both food systems and producer livelihoods.
