It was concluded that iron content was the main factor contributing to enhanced arsenic removal and that this was affected by base GAC properties such as pore size distribution and surface functional groups. However high Fe content can result in pore blockage; reduction in available adsorption sites for organic co-contaminants; and have a significant effect on the Fe-GACs overall adsorption capacity.
