Abstract: With the advent of the prophet Muhammad in the seventh century CE, Arabia was unified under a single state. Such a historical development is essential to understand and appreciate. The life and career of the Prophet has been analyzed by both Muslims and non-Muslims alike. There is generally a lot of overlap between both groups of interpretations. However, the hierarchy of contributing factors to the unification of Arabia remains controversial. In my thesis, I put forth the significance of the Islamic religious teachings in this process of unification and centralization of power.

Transition metal dichalcogenides (TMDs) are a family of layered crystals with the chemical formula MX2 (M = W, Nb, Mo, Ta and X = S, Se, Te). These TMDs exhibit many fascinating optical and electronic properties making them strong candidates for high-end electronics, optoelectronic application, and spintronics. The layered structure

Transition metal dichalcogenides (TMDs) are a family of layered crystals with the chemical formula MX2 (M = W, Nb, Mo, Ta and X = S, Se, Te). These TMDs exhibit many fascinating optical and electronic properties making them strong candidates for high-end electronics, optoelectronic application, and spintronics. The layered structure of TMDs allows the crystal to be mechanically exfoliated to a monolayer limit, where bulk-scale properties no longer apply and quantum effects arise, including an indirect-to-direct bandgap transition. Controllably tuning the electronic properties of TMDs like WSe2 is therefore a highly attractive prospect achieved by substitutionally doping the metal atoms to enable n- and p-type doping at various concentrations, which can ultimately lead to more effective electronic devices due to increased charge carriers, faster transmission times and possibly new electronic and optical properties to be probed. WSe2 is expected to exhibit the largest spin splitting size and spin-orbit coupling, which leads to exciting potential applications in spintronics over its similar TMD counterparts, which can be controlled through electrical doping. Unfortunately, the well-established doping technique of ion implantation is unable to preserve the crystal quality leading to a major roadblock for the electronics applications of tungsten diselenide. Synthesizing WSe2 via chemical vapor transport (CVT) and flux method have been previously established, but controllable p-type (niobium) doping WSe2 in low concentrations ranges (<1 at %) by CVT methods requires further experimentation and study. This work studies the chemical vapor transport synthesis of doped-TMD W1-xNbxSe2 through characterization techniques of X-ray Diffraction, Scanning Electron Microscopy, Energy Dispersive X-ray Spectroscopy, and X-ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy techniques. In this work, it is observed that excess selenium transport does not enhance the controllability of niobium doping in WSe2, and that tellurium tetrachloride (TeCl4) transport has several barriers in successfully incorporating niobium into WSe2.

This three-day film festival is a compilation of films that have helped me connect with my heritage and create a fuller understanding of Chilean history, but is also an invitation for a wider audience with a lesser connection to actively build their own memory of the Chilean dictatorship.

Supply chain management is a complex field that deals with a variety of ever-changing factors, and artificial intelligence has the opportunity to create lots of value and drive efficiency if organizations can implement it effectively. This thesis examines the different types of AI based on functionality and capability and provides a brief overview of the history behind artificial intelligence. Different supply chain functions including demand forecasting, inventory management, route optimization, supply transparency, and safety and sustainability were analyzed before and after adding AI systems. After examining AI missteps and successes in recent years, a detailed roadmap was created to help decision-makers deal with the numerous complexities when implementing AI technology within a business to improve the supply chain.

The History of the Future is a film series presented by ASU’s Center for Science and the Imagination in partnership with Majestic Neighborhood Cinema Grill Tempe. Once a month in the fall and spring seasons, Majestic Theater screens a retro sci-fi film I have selected that is set in the future and invites audience members to relive the nostalgia of seeing the movie in theaters all while applying its lessons to today’s future. For each film screening, I choose a guest speaker to introduce the movie and prime the audience to think of the film as just one imagination of the future. The project furthers CSI’s mission to connect with our community’s imaginations that can enact change for our collective future.

In this three-episode podcast series, we delve into the layers of censorship within the American public school system. Episode one unearths the historical roots of censorship in America, tracing back to pivotal moments and decisions that shaped the landscape of what can and cannot be taught or discussed in classrooms. Moving forward, episode two navigates the complex web of policies, guidelines, and societal pressures that have dictated the boundaries of permissible content in school curricula as of recently. Finally, episode three explores strategies and initiatives aimed at fostering a more inclusive and open learning environment for the future. We examine the role of technology and the role students can take in empowering educators and learners to engage critically with information while respecting diverse viewpoints. Through in-depth analysis and compelling narratives, this podcast series sheds light on the ongoing discourse surrounding censorship in America's public schools, urging listeners to rethink conventional paradigms and advocate for a more transparent and equitable educational experience for all.
