This study investigates the viability of utilizing flexible perovskite solar modules (PSMs) as a sustainable energy solution for extended lunar missions. The study focuses on optimizing PSM fabrication processes, including laser scribing techniques and substrate selection, to enhance durability and performance in the harsh lunar environment. Through iterative processing and characterization methods, such as photoluminescence spectroscopy with thermal cycling tests, the research evaluates the reliability of PSMs on both rigid glass and flexible PET substrates. Results indicate that precise laser scribing is feasible when manufacturing PSMs on flexible PET substrates. Samples processed on flexible PET substrates also demonstrate superior resilience to extreme temperature differentiation, highlighting their potential for long-term energy generation on the lunar surface. The findings contribute to advancing solar power technology for space exploration, offering insights into the development of robust energy solutions for sustained lunar habitation and exploration missions. This research underscores the importance of innovative approaches in renewable energy to support future space endeavors and lays the groundwork for further exploration into flexible PSM capabilities.

The United Nations identified global warming and climate change as the biggest challenge in modern human development. The reduction in the use of petroleum and oil will be a necessary step in the advancement for every industry using petroleum products. The engineered Escherichia coli strain M0158 produces malate, a food additive and cosmetic chemical. The bioreactor in this study uses carbon dioxide (CO2) delivered through hollow-fiber membranes (HFMs) to dissolve the gas efficiently into the growth solution, eliminating the conventional need for direct bicarbonate supplementation. The current mass balance assumes 100% of the CO2 into the solution was being fixed to the product and standing in the growth solution, or there was no CO2 moving out of the system without being utilized. A system of iterative experimentation was set up to measure the CO2 concentration and flow rate in the outlet gas. In the first iteration of the design, an Arduino microcontroller, a SprintIR-6S-5 CO2 sensor, and a flow rate sensor were used to measure these values at the outlet gas stream. Through the experimentation, the design removed the flow rate sensor at the outlet and added an argon sweep gas controlled with a mass flow controller (MFC). The sensor setup was assessed for its reliability and consistency over a 24-hour long experiment to understand if it could function continuously throughout a 6-day fermentation experiment. Then, characterization curves quantify the amount of CO2 that leaves the system without bacterial consumption and these curves were measured for 8, 10, and 12 HFMs in an abiotic system. Lastly, a bioreactor with active cells was fit with the sensor system and measured for 3 days continuously with 10 HFMs. The results of this final experiment begin to show the consumption rates of the bacteria and quantify the CO2 lost from the system. With this data and further experimentation with other HFM setups and bacteria, the loss of CO2 in membrane bioreactor systems can be quantified and the overall sustainability can be measured.

In the evolving data center landscape, Company X faces challenges due to its lag in entering the GPU market, which jeopardizes its competitive advantage against industry players like Nvidia and AMD. To address these issues, our thesis aims to analyze market dynamics between CPUs and GPUs-whether they present distinct markets or compete against each other. We seek to guide Company X in maximizing profitability and sustaining its pivotal role in the semiconductor industry amidst the AI revolution. Specifically, we discuss optimizing their GPU offering, Falcon Shores, towards specific markets and doubling down on the production of CPUs.

In 2022, a previous team of computer science and accounting students worked together to design and build a fully-functioning website to automate accounting transactions. They created dynamic accounting applications using software frameworks such as React and Express. They then used the services provided by Amazon Web Services to make the website available online. The stakeholders of the project wanted to expand upon the services provided by the website so they entrusted our team with implementing new features and applications to the software system. Using the same software frameworks and services of the previous team, we redesigned the website and increased its functionality to better meet the needs of accounting automation.

Milk has long played an important role in American society and remains a popular staple of many Americans’ diets. Yet, despite its long standing popularity, the role of milk within American society has begun to develop new meaning in recent years. This paper aims to understand the symbolism that today’s Americans ascribe to milk. Academic journal articles, advertising campaigns, online articles, and government policy pertaining to milk were researched in order to identify the themes that characterize consumers’ perceptions of milk. In recognition of the diverse types of milk that are now accessible to many Americans, this paper uses the word “milk” to refer to cow-derived, fluid (liquid) dairy unless otherwise specified. This research reveals eleven principal themes that describe consumers’ perceptions of milk: milk symbolizes health, American values, is associated with athleticism, is unhealthy, is not preferable to plant-based alternatives, is bad for the environment, is animal cruelty, represents white supremacy, is anti-feminist, is reflective of consumer lifestyles, and there is a general trend of consumers being uninformed about the milk that they consume. This research helps to understand consumers; therefore, this research can be used to help dairy-related industries shape their business strategies and target their customer segment and to help policymakers design effective dairy-related policies. Furthermore, this paper invites further research to identify the consumers that hold the beliefs this research describes, and the extent to which these consumers share said beliefs.

Search Engine Marketing is one of the most commonly utilized digital marketing strategies. However, it is also relatively new and unstudied. A study is necessary to address how consumers are interacting with search engines both organically and through paid sponsored results. First, information must be compiled on what the current industry best practices are when marketing through search engines. This means acquiring data on how marketers are using Search Engine Optimization and Paid Search campaigns to target their customers and potential customers. Next, information must be gathered on what current research exists regarding the consumer behavior of search engines. In other words, how, where, and why are users searching? Finally, a study will be conducted surveying 385 college students to address unanswered questions about how younger generations are searching and where the future of search lies.
