The contemporary world is motivated by data-driven decision-making. Small 501(c)3 nonprofit organizations are often limited in their reach due to their size, lack of funding, and a lack of data analysis expertise. In an effort to increase accessibility to data analysis for such organizations, a Founders Lab team designed a product to help them understand and utilize geographic information systems (GIS) software. This product – You Got GIS – strikes the balance between highly technical documentation and general overviews, benefiting 501(c)3 nonprofits in their pursuit of data-driven decision-making. Through the product’s use of case studies and methodologies, You Got GIS serves as a thought experiment platform to start answering questions regarding GIS. The product aims to continuously build partnerships in an effort to improve curriculum and user engagement.

When you are sitting at the terminal waiting for your flight or taking the bus to get to work, have you ever thought about who used your seat last? More importantly, have you ever thought about the last time that seat was cleaned? Sadly, it is uncertain to see if it was properly sanitized in the last hour, yesterday, in the last week, or even last month. Especially during these tough times, everyone wants to be assured that they are always in a safe and healthy environment. Through the Founders Lab, our team is collaborating with an engineering capstone team to bring automated seat cleaning technology into the market. This product is a custom-designed seat cover that is tear-resistant and provides a sanitary surface for anyone to sit on. When someone leaves the seat, a pressure sensor is triggered, and the cover is replaced with a secondary cover that was stored in a UV radiated container. The waterproof fabric and internal filters prevent spills and food crumbs from remaining when the user changes. The reason for bringing this product into the market is due to the unsanitary conditions in many high traffic areas. This technology can be implemented in public transportation, restaurants, sports stadiums, and much more. It will instantly improve the efficiency of sanitation for many businesses and keep a promise to its users that they will never bring something they sat on back home. #Safeseating

Our project is to create a simplified, portable, modular electrocardiogram known as ECG/EKG. Most medical facilities, including hospitals, clinics, and skilled nursing facilities, still rely on traditional 12-lead EKG equipment consisting of a large cart with long 10 wires. These wires can be a pain to constantly detangle and rearrange to determine a person’s heart conditions. This creates issues in fast paced scenarios such as when a patient is experiencing a heart attack and needs an EKG stat. Additionally, the current technology can be somewhat unreliable at determining heart conditions, causing providers to request multiple EKG’s for patients. With our improved versatile EKG, we can help solve these issues and implement additional outpatient use with its portable features. This can be done by remotely monitoring heart conditions during activities such as exercise, sleep, or stressful events, without worrying about wire disturbance.

Through Founders Lab, our group ideated an innovative new way for people to track their health and wellness. The app uses a 4-part circle system where users track their everyday progress in the following areas: diet, exercise, development, and mental wellness. Users can form groups with friends and family members to provide support to one another. Through tracking their daily activities, users can earn tokens which are redeemable for relevant discounts. The app also hosts a variety of ways for users to be recognized for their healthy routine such as challenge trophies, activity history, and other social features. Overall, Circle Up aims to improve the daily routines of individuals to propel them into a healthier lifestyle.

Through Founders Lab, our group designed an innovative new way for people to track their health and wellness. We created an app that uses a 4-part circle system where users track an everyday activity in the following areas: diet, exercise, development, and mental wellness. Users form small groups with friends and family members to provide support to one another. Through tracking their daily activities, users can earn tokens which are redeemable for relevant discounts with partnership brands. The app also hosts a variety of ways for users to be recognized for their healthy routines such as challenge trophies, activity history, and other social features. Overall, Circle Up aims to improve the daily routines of individuals to propel them into a healthier lifestyle, without the pressure of a curated social media feed.

Bottled Borders was apart of Founders Lab, a team-based, experiential Barrett honors thesis/creative project designed to empower honors students to "find their inner entrepreneur" and launch a new business. Bottled Borders is an innovative gift giving service offering a SouthWest style mixology box. Our unique approach focuses on the SouthWest region of the US including Arizona, Nevada, Utah, New Mexico, and Colorado. Our model allows customers to explore the flavors of the Southwest, featuring signature alcoholic beverage recipes from the five states, as well as garnishes and a bar tool kit. Each box also contains fun facts about each region, cocktail recipes, serving suggestions, bar tips, and exclusive video instructions.

Make & Save Cups is a business concept designed to provide reusable cups to coffee shop visitors with incentives of inexpensive pricing, customization, and sustainability efforts. In our current market, Starbucks and other beverage retailers offer discounts or rewards on purchases if you use reusable cups. However, the cups sold

Make & Save Cups is a business concept designed to provide reusable cups to coffee shop visitors with incentives of inexpensive pricing, customization, and sustainability efforts. In our current market, Starbucks and other beverage retailers offer discounts or rewards on purchases if you use reusable cups. However, the cups sold in these cafes are often overpriced, and the selection of different designs is limited. Through community outreach and user surveys, we were able to find out in greater detail why people have hesitations using reusable cups. Our most significant discovery was that people either don't have enough reusable cups or don't like cleaning their reusable cups because they are hard to clean. With these problems in mind, Make & Save Cups was developed to provide our customers with cheaper cups that are still of quality so that they can have more than enough reusable cups for whenever they need them. Our cups are easy to clean and dishwasher safe, allowing customers to wash cups in large batches easily. Another aspect of our business model is that Make & Save Cups will enable customers to design their own reusable cups at a significantly more affordable price point. We sold these cups outside our campus near established, busy cafes with a reusable cup incentive. We have a variety of art supplies, including stickers, paint markers, and more, which are completely included in the price of the cup. Make & Save Cups saves students money while saving the planet and gives them a unique and memorable experience that could potentially incentivize more widespread use of reusable cups. This semester, we accomplished our goals set last semester of fully launching our product, conducting more focus groups to gain data and feedback on our product experience, and keeping our focus on increasing the number of people who use reusable cups.
