Crazed Oasis strives to create a community-based, sustainable clothing brand that looks and feels great, while creating a community that is safe and welcoming to individuals of all backgrounds. We strive to educate all about the world to provide an understanding and appreciation for all individuals and cultures. The current climate of the world is a crazy one, and the clothing industry is highly unsustainable. Crazed Oasis is creating the solution by building a community to create new friendships and connections while focusing on the important topics of the world, such as sustainability, mental health, human rights, arts and passions, and more. Through our clothing products, we will educate and create a culture of understanding through art.

Our group examined the low rate of clothing utilization in the fashion industry. Fast fashion has contributed to this low rate of utilization, as well as the high amounts of textiles that end up in landfills. Our startup, Patchwork Apparel, was designed to address this problem. Our clothes were made with fabric scraps or donated textiles that would otherwise end up in landfills. The mission of our business was to develop trendy and sustainable apparel that helped to eliminate textile waste while staying on brand with current fashion trends.

The Garden is a series of seven looks which represent specific flowers. These representations are seen not only in their color ways, but also in their use of textured fabrics, bold silhouettes, and detailed embellishment techniques such as beading and covered buttons. My goal was to embody flowers, not to simply create garments with flowers on them. Instead, these garments ARE flowers. These forms are meant to call back to classic feminine shapes while giving them a modern twist in their asymmetry, fearless lines, and suggestiveness. They are a celebration of women and their connection with the delicate and powerful aspects of nature and their interactions with the human form.

This qualitative study explores how women, nonbinary, and trans individuals define their identities in relation to contemporary fashion. To gather insights about the connection between fashion choices and the expression of complex identity categories, four 45-minute long interviews were conducted and transcribed using Otter.ai software. This qualitative study explores how women, nonbinary, and trans individuals define their identities in relation to contemporary fashion. To gather insights about the connection between fashion choices and the expression of complex identity categories, four 45-minute long interviews were conducted and transcribed using Otter.ai software. A two-stage coding approach was used to analyze the data, and the findings suggest that people intentionally use their clothing to communicate aspects of their identities to others. In particular, the study found that clothing helps individuals learn, perform, and embody their gender. Intersectional feminist theory argues that oppressed identity categories combine to create unique experiences for people who belong to marginalized groups, including those related to gender, race, and sexual orientation. The results of this study contribute to the discussion of intersectionality by highlighting the ways in which people are empowered by fashion to both express and celebrate their identities, as well as to challenge oppressive societal norms. The unique combination of traits to make a different lived experience creates a new and improved understanding of who the person is and the different ways they express their activities.
