It is evident that this generation of young people are buried in debt, both during college and the years after graduating. There is lots of talk about the problem, but not much talk about the solution. I created a video blog (vlog) that is about personal finances targeted at college students and recent college graduates. The videos cover different topics in each video, on things from saving to investing to budgeting and others. I tried to make it both funny and informative, so that it would not be boring to watch and each video would be easy to learn from. I made 10 videos in total, putting out one video per week. The blog can be found at : wherethisdoughgo.blogspot.com

Blockchain technology is becoming the new platform for the future of money as a means of payment. It was originally developed to support the cryptocurrency (bitcoin) functionality and improve the way of doing business. However, with its versatility, it has evolved into a multifunctional innovation that can be being applied in different non-business sectors that have a great impact on the economy. I will review some aspects of the economy that are likely to be impacted like the role of a centralized monetary system, need for regulation in business and role of business innovation in the economy. Moreover, I will investigate its impact in emerging markets because unlike the developed economies, emerging markets have greater potential to expand as they still have increasing returns to scale and rapidly growing. Some of the ways that this occurs include cost reduction in financial market and cross-border payments, faster international remittances, and curbing problems like corruption. The paper concludes that there are no much prospects on the expectations of the technology in the African economy because of the challenges in adopting it like scalability, conservativeness of the society to incubate new technology, and lack of infrastructure to support the new technology.

Unmanned aerial vehicles have received increased attention in the last decade due to their versatility, as well as the availability of inexpensive sensors (e.g. GPS, IMU) for their navigation and control. Multirotor vehicles, specifically quadrotors, have formed a fast growing field in robotics, with the range of applications spanning from surveil- lance and reconnaissance to agriculture and large area mapping. Although in most applications single quadrotors are used, there is an increasing interest in architectures controlling multiple quadrotors executing a collaborative task. This thesis introduces a new concept of control involving more than one quadrotors, according to which two quadrotors can be physically coupled in mid-flight. This concept equips the quadro- tors with new capabilities, e.g. increased payload or pursuit and capturing of other quadrotors. A comprehensive simulation of the approach is built to simulate coupled quadrotors. The dynamics and modeling of the coupled system is presented together with a discussion regarding the coupling mechanism, impact modeling and additional considerations that have been investigated. Simulation results are presented for cases of static coupling as well as enemy quadrotor pursuit and capture, together with an analysis of control methodology and gain tuning. Practical implementations are introduced as results show the feasibility of this design.

This project offers an argument that isolates several major forces that it contends pose a critical threat to the endurance of modern American democracy. It evaluates modern and classic political philosophy to identify the prerequisites for a stable democracy, identifying and defining voter education and participation as necessary contributors to civic engagement. It provides a socio-legal framework for evaluating four phenomena that have shifted in their impact on politics over the past 20 years: the roles of money and media in politics, as well as disenfranchisement by gerrymandering and by felon voting restrictions. It demonstrates how each has a new and worsening impact on voter education and/or participation, thus threatening the continued existence of modern American democracy.

In my case, this more specifically dealt with organizing a dodgeball tournament between two friendly rivals: police officers and firefighters in the city of Phoenix. All proceeds raised from this fundraising dodgeball tournament were donated back to first responders working in the city of Phoenix.

This thesis addresses the widespread questions asked of Bitcoin. Cryptocurrencies - decentralized ledgers of peer to peer transactions – have taken the world by storm, with Bitcoin leading the way by means of being the original, most valuable, and most popular. Despite this widespread use, skepticism remains as to what Bitcoin is and whether it counts as money. I first defend the framework that I use for understanding Social Objects, Searle’s X counts as Y in C formula, as money is undoubtedly a social object. I then argue that Smit et al.’s account of money, while useful, mistakenly identifies an essential characteristic of money, the relative ratio scale, as a feature. I therefore present an alternative account of money. I then explain why the most commonly held account of Bitcoin, the chain Definition fails, and why Bitcoin being a fictional substance is not a problem for Bitcoin being money. I then demonstrate Bitcoin’s compatibility with my alternative account, and from this conclude that Bitcoin is Money.

There has been a vast increase in applications of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) in civilian domains. While indoor and low-altitude environments are mainly occupied by static obstacles,

There has been a vast increase in applications of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) in civilian domains. To operate in the civilian airspace, a UAV must be able to sense and avoid both static and moving obstacles for flight safety. While indoor and low-altitude environments are mainly occupied by static obstacles, risks in space of higher altitude primarily come from moving obstacles such as other aircraft or flying vehicles in the airspace. Therefore, the ability to avoid moving obstacles becomes a necessity

for Unmanned Aerial Vehicles.

Towards enabling a UAV to autonomously sense and avoid moving obstacles, this thesis makes the following contributions. Initially, an image-based reactive motion planner is developed for a quadrotor to avoid a fast approaching obstacle. Furthermore, A Dubin’s curve based geometry method is developed as a global path planner for a fixed-wing UAV to avoid collisions with aircraft. The image-based method is unable to produce an optimal path and the geometry method uses a simplified UAV model. To compensate

these two disadvantages, a series of algorithms built upon the Closed-Loop Rapid Exploratory Random Tree are developed as global path planners to generate collision avoidance paths in real time. The algorithms are validated in Software-In-the-Loop (SITL) and Hardware-In-the-Loop (HIL) simulations using a fixed-wing UAV model and in real flight experiments using quadrotors. It is observed that the algorithm enables a UAV to avoid moving obstacles approaching to it with different directions and speeds.

Next, I will define the term terrorism and explain the difference between it and the associated terms of insurgency and guerrilla warfare. Further, I will briefly go over the history of terrorism and the methods employed by terrorist organizations. After this introductory element, I will proceed to explore how terrorism has been funded in the past and how it is being funded at present. Lastly, I will present an overview of future methods of financing and make a proposal as to how the United States and the rest of the world could possibly disrupt these forms of financing. This paper is not intended to be comprehensive in nature, as this would be too large in scope, but rather use specific examples to illustrate certain methods and uses of terrorist financing

Financial literacy is an important aspect of human life, and understating and gaining knowledge about how to budget, invest, and successfully save is essential in order to experience a fulfilling life without the burden of debt. This thesis seeks to raise awareness of financial literacy and to understand the way it is formed and conveyed. It first describes the different forms and amounts of debt Americans take on: consumer debt, credit card debt, and student loan debt. It next examines four currently popular financial curriculums: Dave Ramsey’s The Total Money Makeover, Suze Orman’s The Nine Steps to Financial Freedom, Robert T. Kiyosaki’s Rich Dad, Poor Dad, and Vicki Robin and Joe Dominguez’s Your Money or Your Life. The thesis then discusses the psychological aspects of financial literacy, particularly happiness studies. It then examines financial literacy from the micro perspective of a Reddit forum content analysis and concludes by turning to American philosopher Henry David Thoreau’s ideas on how to live in a financially beneficial way.
