Financial Intelligence Pays Off blog is an easy to use blog for high school juniors and seniors and college students to access in order to receive a quick overview of essential financial topics. There are many sources and college courses for students to take to get a more in-depth understanding of topics such as saving, filing taxes, learning about credit but many times students do not know about these courses. However, it is often that courses are restricted to students who are business majors and online sources sometimes use to technical of terminology for young adults to follow along. The goal of this blog is for it to give students just a quick overview of what taxes are, how to manage and have a good credit score, how to keep a budget and other essential financial tasks. There are five topics covered in the blog as well as resources for students to access if they would like more information on a topic.

Dodd-Frank should be celebrated for its success in stabilizing the financial sector following the last financial crisis. Some of its measures have not only contained financial disaster but contributed to economic growth. These elements of Dodd-Frank have been identified as "clear wins" and include the increase of financial institutions' capital requirements, the single-point-of-entry approach to regulating financial firms, and the creation of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB). The single-point-of-entry strategy (SPOE), specifically, has done much to bring an end to the age of "too big to fail" institutions. By identifying firms that could expect to be aided in case of financial crisis, the SPOE approach reduces uncertainty among financial institutions. Moreover, SPOE eliminates the significant source of risk by establishing clear protocols for resolving failed financial firms. Dodd-Frank has also taken measures to better protect consumers with the creation of the CFPB. Some of the CFPB's stabilizing actions have included the removal of deceptive financial products, setting guidelines for qualified mortgages, and other regulatory safeguards on money transfers. Despite the CFPB's many triumphs, however, there is room for improvement, especially in the agency's ability to reduce regulatory redundancies in supervision and collaboration with other financial sector controllers. The significant strengths of Dodd-Frank are evident in its elements that have secured financial stability. However, it is important to also consider any potential to stifle healthy economic growth. There are several areas for legislative amendments and reforms in order to improve the performance of Dodd-Frank given its sweeping regulatory impact. Several governing redundancies now exist with the creation of new regulatory authorities. Special efforts to increase the authority of the Financial Sector Oversight Council (FSOC) and preserving the impartiality of the Office of Financial Research (OFR) are specific examples of reforms still needed to elevate the effectiveness of Dodd-Frank. In addition, Dodd-Frank could do more to clarify the Volcker Rule in order to ease banks' burden to comply with excessive oversight. Going forward, policymakers must be willing to adjust parts of Dodd-Frank that encroach too far on the private sector's ability to foster efficiency or development. In addition, identifying and monitoring areas of the legislation deemed "too soon to tell" will provide insight on the accuracy and benefit of some Dodd-Frank measures.

The current state of financial inequality in America is showing multiple economic and social problems that harm the American dream and legacy. It is found that increasing inequality causes slower GDP growth, underinvestment in human capital, and disproportionate shifting of political power to the rich. Researches show that Average Americans do not realize how severe inequality has gotten over the past few decades, but one thing is clear: What they thought as ideal distribution of wealth is nowhere close to the reality. In this thesis, I examine the current state of inequality and how it has changed since the 1980s. Then, I present reasons why inequality has been on an increasing trend and identify what economic policies lead to rising inequality. With analysis of Reaganomics (trickle-down economics), I make an argument that reducing taxes on the rich might provide a short-term boost in the national economy, but such policy soon encounters side effects and is unsustainable. Fighting inequality is an imperative step to boost the American middle class and maintain sustainable and stable economic growth. In order to relieve inequality down closer to what Americans picked as the appropriate level, I present two recommendations that can be effective in fighting inequality. One is to reform the tax policies to make it more progressive especially towards the top 5% and shift the tax burden from the bottom to the top, while implementing stricter regulations regarding tax evasion. Next is to provide disadvantaged students with better access to higher education by subsidizing public universities more and lowering FAFSA rate. Realizing one's earning potential starts with education, and higher education today is more important than any other time in the past. Once these solutions prove effective and inequality is relieved, America will be able to regain her reputation as land of opportunity and enjoy faster economic growth.

This thesis will be exploring the situation of one of the most vulnerable groups during the COVID-19 pandemic, low-income renters. As businesses and whole states were shutdown, jobs and wages were lost and the over 100 million renters in the United States, many of whom spend a significant chunk of their income on their rent, were forced into a precarious situation. <br/><br/>The Federal Rent Moratorium that is currently in effect bars any evictions for missed rent payments, but these are expenses that if left unpaid, are just continuously accruing. These large sums of rent payments are currently scheduled to be dropped on struggling individuals at the end of the recently extended date of June 30th, 2021. As these renters are unable to pay for their housing, landlords lose the revenue streams from their investment properties, and are in turn unable to cover the debt service on the financing they utilized to acquire the property. In turn, financial institutions can then face widespread defaults on these loans.<br/><br/>The rental property market is massive, as roughly 34% of the American population consist of renters. If left unaddressed, this situation has the potential to cause cataclysmal consequences on the economy, including mass homelessness and foreclosures of rental properties and complexes. Everyone, from the tenants to the bankers and beyond, are stakeholders in this dire situation and this paper will seek to explore the issues, desires, and potential solutions applicable to all parties involved. Beginning with the pre-pandemic outlook of the rental housing market, then examining the impact of the coronavirus and the resulting federal actions, to finally explore solutions that may prevent or mitigate this potential disaster.

Music streaming services have affected the music industry from both a financial and legal standpoint. Their current business model affects stakeholders such as artists, users, and investors. These services have been scrutinized recently for their imperfect royalty distribution model. Covid-19 has made these discussions even more relevant as touring income has come to a halt for musicians and the live entertainment industry. <br/>Under the current per-stream model, it is becoming exceedingly hard for artists to make a living off of streams. This forces artists to tour heavily as well as cut corners to create what is essentially “disposable art”. Rapidly releasing multiple projects a year has become the norm for many modern artists. This paper will examine the licensing framework, royalty payout issues, and propose a solution.

Description区块链技术应用(DApp)最早出现在数字货币交易上,也有部分DApp涉及游戏、音乐、教育、出行等场景,但是由于前几年DApp还属于新生事物,多数社会大众对其了解程度不高,加之多数DApp开发和优化的水平有限,用户体验较差,因此并没有良好的市场表现。

尽管如此, 2017年11月一款叫CryptoKitties的区块链游戏正式上线,并且在短时间之内引爆了整个区块链,游戏交易量在1个月内暴涨至1.7万。随后风险资本不断进入区块链行业,并且催生出一大批区块链DApp出来,涉及的应用场景进一步拓展到游戏、赌博、社交、金融、市场、保险、健康等领域。如何设计一套有效的治理机制,从而实现用户留存高、项目前景好,成为多数区块链DApp最为关注的问题。

本文选择CryptoKitties、Mycryptohero、Steemit和NeoWorld这四款区块链DApp作为案例研究对象,通过归纳总结发现这四款DApp都将游戏性、通证经济、社群生态和网络效应作为共同的治理方式。基于这四方面,本文对四款DApp的异同进行了跨案例比较,发现NeoWorld要比其他三款DApp在治理手段上更加丰富和合理。最后,利用136份NeoWorld玩家调查问卷数据,对游戏性、通证经济、社群生态和网络效应对其治理绩效的影响进行了实证检验,结果发现除了社群生态之外,其他三个因素都能提升NeoWorld的治理绩效。

本研究的最大创新是选择在区块链场景应用中具有代表性的4个DApp项目作为案例研究对象,通过归纳总结发现各自在治理手段上的共同之处(影响因素),并根据问卷调查数据对不同影响因素对特定Dapp治理绩效的影响程度进行实证检验,丰富了平台治理相关研究成果,也为社会各界深化认识DApp治理方式和成效,推动DApp行业生态健康有序发展提供参考和借鉴。

Description随着经济和社会的进步,企业不仅要以盈利为目标,也为利益相关者和生态环境负责并承担相应的社会责任。社会公众也日渐对企业社会责任问题加以重视,伴随着社会责任这一理念的深入,监管部门制定并出台了一系列与企业社会责任信息披露有关的政策和法规,用以规范和引导企业社会责任信息的披露工作。本文以有效市场理论、信息不对称理论和利益相关者理论为基础,将2010-2018年香港证券交易所上市公司为作为研究对象,运用实证研究的方法,将企业社会责任融入股票崩盘风险的研究视角。本文结合理论演绎和实证检验的方法,突破已有文献以收益框架为研究视角的限制,从金融资本市场的角度出发研究企业社会责任的崩盘效应,系统的探索了企业社会责任影响股票崩盘风险的效应及其影响因素。研究结果显示,对比未披露企业社会责任的公司而言,披露企业社会责任相关信息的公司,未来股价崩盘风险越小。基于香港股市主要以机构投资者为主,进一步考察了社会责任信息披露和机构投资者对股价未来崩盘风险的交互作用,研究发现在机构持股比例越低的公司中,企业社会责任信息披露对未来崩盘效应的抑制作用越明显。此外,本文以独立董事占董事会人员比例作为企业治理因素,探索了社会责任信息披露和董事会独立性对股价崩盘风险的交互作用,研究发现企业董事独立性越强,社会责任信息披露对股票崩盘风险的抑制作用更为显著。最后,相对于非国有企业而言,国有企业性质削弱了企业社会责任信息披露对未来崩盘效应的抑制作用。

Description随着科创板、注册制出台,企业间的竞争逐步从资源型竞争转向科技和技术的竞争,大量有知识、有文化、有理想、有技术的人才涌入社会,给科技发展、技术创新在政策、市场和人才层面提供了支撑、机遇和源动力,科技型创新企业大量涌现,形成趋势性上升行业。科技型创业企业多冠以“规模小、技术密集、高成长、高风险”的标签,在融资过程中困难重重,这些特点与风险投资(VC)“高风险、高回报”的特质不谋而合,VC机构还能给被投企业提供人才、信息、商业模式、政策法律咨询等增值服务,助力企业发展。引入VC走上市路径成为诸多科技型创业企业最优选择。 近些年VC行业在我国得到迅猛发展,IVC和CVC已成了助推我国科技型创业企业发展的主力军。由于IVC和CVC的组织架构、投资期限、资金来源、投资目标、投资经验、管理层薪资结构等方面存在着很大的不同。不同的投资模式势必会对被投企业的经营活动产生不同影响,本文基于总资产单位产出和投入为经济学逻辑,针对相关变量提出假设。 本文对我国中小板和创业板2013年以前上市的七个高新技术行业(5G通信、大数据、人工智能、软件服务、生物制药、新材料、医疗器械)共123家,以上市为起点的6年企业数据为基础。以IVC和CVC为自变量,以上市司龄、企业规模、行业控制、分红占净利润比为控制变量,以V/A、E/A、K/A和E/R为因变量,对IVC和CVC投入的科技型创业企业分别进行描述性统计、相关性分析和回归分析,验证IVC和CVC对被投企业的市场维度(V/A)、财务维度(E/A、E/R)、创新维度(K/A)的影响。试图从企业的角度出发,理清企业与VC的关系,为二级市场投资者提供一个投资决策视角。

The Solis Lofts Development Proposal thesis consisted of a full prospective development within the City of Tempe. Our team conducted a vast amount of market research to determine what sector of the market would provide the best return on investment. We organized meetings with local brokers from Cushman & Wakefield, CBRE, JLL, and Colliers International to learn more about the current market environment. Also, we organized meetings with local developers, architects, and lenders. These included Merit Partners, Sunbelt Holdings, MODUS Development, Catclar Investments, 5Visual, Butler Design Group, and Colonial Capital. Through the research we conducted we were able to successfully determine that a multifamily development within the City of Tempe would be a great way to enter the Commercial Real Estate Development field. Our project consisted of the full land acquisition process, architectural site plan review, financial analysis, and completion of the product.

Regulations in the financial sector of the United States have had the same purpose of protecting the economy and consumers since their modern establishment. Deregulation in the 1980’s led to an environment that allowed banks to take on high risk choices. This, among other economic circumstances, lead to the 2008 Great Recession that brought down the United States and global economies. The government was forced to act with bailouts to keep many big banks from shutting down. Some were bailed out and others failed to keep the economy stable. In June 2009, the recession was over, but the recovery process was not. To help prevent another crash, the Dodd Frank Act was passed in July 2010. The act is a long and complex legislation with the main purpose of enforcing regulations to keep banks in check to prevent another recession. The Act’s enforcement was felt immediately, forcing businesses to adapt to its regulation standards. Opinions on Dodd-Frank are mixed. Some see it serving its purpose with regulating the financial sector and others see it being a costly burden that has slowed the progress of the economy. As the economy continues to evolve, we can expect changes to the regulations on the financial sector which will continue to cause businesses to adapt, change, and modify their operations.
