News headlines are filled with unequal treatment in the workplace. However, there are also inspirational stories that encourage young women to face the challenges they are presented as they become executives in corporate America.

The purpose of this study was to interview women executives within corporate America to identify similar means of navigating women-specific issues they may have been presented with within their industry. More specifically, the questions sought to identify how these women became successful within their industry and how their female identities may have provided benefits to them, professionally. Interviewees were selected on a multitude of factors, title and status in company, industry, including availability, mutual connections, and demographics. Interviews were conducted both in person, over the phone, via web video conference and via email. All interviewees were asked the same questions, and interviews ranged from 25-45 minutes each. Each one was recorded and transcribed in order to facilitate comparison between stories, experiences, and other mentions.

The initial intention of analyzing the interviews and stories of these executives was to identify common factors that unified their stories. There were nine categories that the interviews sought to investigate: work-life balance, starting off strong, daily routines, mentorship/support, leadership, impact and legacy, advice and motivation, pros of being a woman, biggest challenges/cons. However, the interviews revealed that there were a plethora of unique factors that identified the stories these women had to tell. Overall, 5/8 of the executives believed that their female identity provided an advantage to them in the corporate sector, 2/8 women said their identity was a neutral factor, and only one woman stated she felt it placed her at a disadvantage. Further, this study concludes that the stories of impenetrable glass ceilings and roadblocks are balanced to some degree by stories of success within the corporate sector. There were 3 key themes for their narratives for success, having a support system, putting yourself first, and giving back.

When a friend approached me and asked me to join his team and apply to the Edson Student Entrepreneur Initiative, a student business plan competition at Arizona State University, I accepted. Not only did I find his idea interesting, but I also believed that applying to the Edson program would give me a first glimpse into being an entrepreneur. The business, called Social Artworking, proposed to create an online platform to connect businesses, who need art, with artists through a unique bidding process. Through Social Artworking, businesses indicate the maximum amount they are able to pay while artists bid what they are willing to do the job for. Then a business or individual is able to pick the best artist that can meet his quality and price needs. In addition to the exchange platform, Social Artworking would jointly launch a social networking site and an online portfolio service for artists. Social Artworking was trying to address the problem of small businesses having a hard time finding affordable and high quality artist and designers while at the same time helping students gain paid experience to increase their portfolio before graduation. In the months leading up to the Edson application, I had a hard time catching up to my partner's knowledge of the business idea and the art, web and crowdsourcing industries. On many occasions, I felt like I was depending on him as an expert to write the application. After two months of working on the application, we submitted the proposal to Edson. The idea did not advance to the final round.

The growth of luxury and fast fashion has coincided with increased environmental risk and damage in its production processes, necessitating the need for new practices to assess compliance with internal brand initiatives and regulatory enforcement. Brands and firms have introduced various initiative programs to meet societal and governmental needs with moderate success. Given new regulations from multiple agencies on both environmental and human rights compliance in production processes, fashion brands now more than ever need a viable solution to maintain a competitive business and creative advantage. In this paper, it would be significant for brands to introduce environmental and social initiatives premised on the implementation of blockchain technology across supply and value chains for transparency in business practices and elevated brand image to drive continued sales and patronage amongst consumers.

An entire collection of people today are connected by one common denominator: the desire to escape reality. To lose themselves in the digital world of gaming, animation, adventure, seeking thrills, companionship, and great memories. The entertainment industry represents a huge market of people who are constantly seeking new ways to enjoy new technology with the people they care about. From the latest games being released to newest VR headsets, the industry is booming, and companies are emerging for a slice at the profits. In a saturated market like the entertainment industry, there are only so many new business models that can successfully infiltrate the preexisting landscape. If you were to look at the gaming industry you’d see lots of innovative product lines like PC’s, accessories, headsets including the latest creative video games. If you were to look at the amusement park industry of roller coasters, merchandise, food sales, ticket fees, there is a lot of ways to profit off of people’s desires to escape from reality. What if the combination of both industries: gaming (e-) and amusement becomes a new market entity called “emusement.” Emusement embodies a traveler’s destination that provides a one-of-a-kind experience with access to the newest technology you can play with friends or family. Emusement is just an idea to be explored with the potential to become a large player in the entertainment industry. Not only would the profitability of such a business be astronomical, but the success of a business like this could lead to expanding the accessibility and growth of new gaming technologies.

We plan to reach our mission by placing legible braille and its translation on our sweatshirts. Furthermore, we want to support the visually impaired and blind community by donating 5% of our profits to local blind charities.

This thesis will outline contracts, the language in contracts, and how contracts in sports law are drafted. Contracts are legally binding agreements between parties, where each benefits in some manner. These contracts are supposed to be interpreted in accordance with the law and set out the obligations between the parties involved. Business contracts have certain clauses that are discussed in this thesis, while sports law contracts have similarities and differences with these business contracts. Business contracts are drafted to outline the duties, responsibilities, and nature of the business relationship. Sports contracts tend to outline the relationship between team and player, where the team has an obligation to compensate the player and the player has a skill or performance to provide. In sports law, the idea of torts will be discussed, which is generally the main cause of action for disputes in sports. The contract is drafted in mind of this in order to limit the liability for the player and team in case of dispute. Then, the standard player contract (‘SPK’) will be introduced, and the author will go over certain unique clauses and language in these contracts. After all the research and information in chapters one through five, chapter six will include a standard player contract drafted by the author. This deliverable will cover the topics and research conducted in the thesis and put it in a sports context. Finally, the author will give an analysis of the drafted SPK and personal recommendations for future drafted SPKs. The author acknowledges the length of this thesis but appreciates the time and effort to read and understand it.
