This paper investigates different factors influencing access to healthcare insurance in the US. It discusses the role of insurance companies, regulations, competition, and federal policy impacts. Drawing on research from journal articles, as well as comparisons to examples of European healthcare, the study emphasizes differences in structure as well as financing. Economic concepts like adverse selection and moral hazard are explained to describe challenges within the insurance market, along with strategies to mitigate them. By the end, the synthesis section proposes recommendations for improving the U.S. healthcare system, including enhancing affordability, strengthening insurance regulation, promoting preventive care, and expanding Medicaid coverage. Through this analysis, the paper discusses opportunities for healthcare reform.

The "AfroWorld: Back to Our Roots" fashion show is a project that goes beyond the runway. It is a transformative event aimed at celebrating the richness of African culture, combating stereotypes, and providing a platform for education and expression. This comprehensive plan outlines the key steps in bringing this vision to life, emphasizing the importance of the show as both an artistic and educational endeavor. The fashion show is the catalyst to a greater discussion on a timeline of African fashion and exploring Afrofuturistic fashion. To start, one has to define AfroFuturistic fashion, it is a type of fashion that draws from African history while blending futuristic elements of design to the garments. My thesis is a greater discussion on how African culture will function in the post modern world, and in turn how that will affect the fashion industry. The beautiful thing about afro futuristic fashion is that this style of fashion challenges a plethora of stereotypes about the African community. That being said, this is serving as a powerful statement of cultural autonomy and celebrating diversity within the African diaspora. The "AfroWorld: Back to Our Roots" fashion show is not merely a fashion show. It is an experience that connects cultural celebration with historical exploration and opens our eyes to what could be on the horizon. This project highlights the richness of African heritage, by challenging stereotypes and providing a platform for artistic expression and education. Within this, it gives reference to the exploration of Afrofuturistic fashion, which is a fusion of traditional African motifs connected with elements of futurism. This then, challenges stereotypes and celebrates the diversity and autonomy within the African diaspora. The fashion show is crafted to unfold as a journey through time, offering a vivid portrayal of the evolution of African fashion across centuries. It is a narrative that speaks volumes, each segment symbolizing a distinct era or facet of African fashion, this is curated to foster inclusivity and instill a profound sense of cultural pride, while additionally challenging the effects of colonialism on the African diaspora. The journey begins with a performance by a traditional African singer, using ancestral tones to set the stage for what is to come. The introduction of traditional Ankara prints on skirts follows, a vibrant celebration of African textiles that pay homage to the rich tapestry of patterns and motifs deeply woven into the fabric of African culture. As the show progresses, it delves deeper into the regional nuances of African fashion, with the elegant display of traditional Sudanese thobes for women. After, it's a traditional East African dance performance. These segments serve as important reminders of the diversity and richness of African cultural expressions. Transitioning seamlessly, the fashion show then shifts its focus to the future, presenting designs by two African sustainable designers inspired by the aesthetic sensibilities of the 70s-90s era. These designs not only reflect a commitment to sustainability but also serve as a bridge between the past and the present, embodying the timeless elegance and cultural resonance of African fashion. An intermission provides a moment for reflection, allowing the audience to ponder the journey thus far and immerse themselves in the cultural tapestry that surrounds them. The ensuing crowd interaction, featuring a best-dressed competition, further fosters community engagement and appreciation, celebrating the beauty and diversity of traditional African attire. As the show progresses, it seamlessly transitions to modern interpretations of African fashion, with a showcase of comforter fashion presenting modern Nigerian attire that seamlessly blends comfort and style for contemporary living. The energy of the West African dance group infuses dynamism into the show, celebrating the vivacious spirit and cultural richness of West Africa. Finally, the fashion show culminates with a juxtaposition of formal and casual fashion aesthetics, featuring designs by a suit designer and a streetwear designer. These contrasting expressions serve as a testament to the diverse range of African fashion, each design a reflection of individual creativity and cultural identity. In conclusion, "AfroWorld: Back to Our Roots" transcends the confines of a mere fashion show; it is a celebration of cultural resilience, a testament to the power of art to provoke thought and inspire change. Through this thesis, we embark on a profound exploration of Afrofuturistic fashion, unraveling its significance in shaping the future of the fashion industry and celebrating the timeless beauty and cultural richness of African heritage. As we defend this thesis, let us reflect on the profound impact of the fashion show in redefining Afrofuturistic fashion and fostering a deeper appreciation for the diverse tapestry of African culture.

The declining enrollment of students in accounting programs across higher education institutions in the United States has emerged as a significant concern within the accounting profession. According to a report from the American Institute of CPAs, the number of accounting graduates has declined by almost 20% over the past decade, with the trend expected to continue. This analysis paper seeks to explore the multifaceted issue of declining enrollment by examining some of the factors contributing to this trend and proposing recommendations to address it. The declining trend in accounting enrollment presents significant challenges for the accounting profession, which relies on a steady influx of qualified graduates to sustain its growth and meet evolving client demands. This thesis examines the multifaceted factors contributing to this decline, assesses the effectiveness of current strategies to counteract it, and proposes comprehensive measures to revitalize accounting education and the profession at large. A critical factor identified is the lack of awareness among potential students about the accounting field. Despite the critical role that accountants play in business and finance, many students are unaware of the profession's scope and the opportunities it offers. This misperception is supported by a lack of knowledge early on in a students education career, new technologies such as AI, and the evolving accounting landscape. This comprehensive study concludes that by collaboratively implementing the discussed strategies, it is possible to significantly reverse the declining trend in accounting enrollment. The long-term success of these initiatives will hinge on the continued commitment and cooperation of all stakeholders, driven by an overarching goal to enhance understanding and awareness of the accounting profession’s critical role and vast potential.

The wine industry is ever-changing across the globe with a variety of cultural and business approaches from different countries. Specifically, Italy and the United States have varying histories behind their wine production which have led to differences in their farming techniques, production methods, and governmental regulations. Preferences for the quality of wine or maximizing production output have separated the two countries' wine cultures; however, climate change with rising temperatures and increased natural disaster rates will affect both. Climate changes are forcing vineyards to adapt their grape varieties to be more suitable and driving some varieties to different regions. For Italy this will impact the influence that terroir has on wine production and for America this will influence their business decisions on what vines to plant to achieve maximum production. The agricultural sector and wine industry are also facing challenges with supply chain traceability and product safety as counterfeiting has become popular for the fine goods sector. Blockchain technology is a recent development that if implemented can increase product traceability and ensure quality to the final consumer. The research included in this paper was conducted through online, scholarly, and peer-reviewed journals as well as first-hand research performed with a California wine producer.

In high school sports, there are many socioeconomic inequalities within competition that result in blowouts and noncompetitive games. Unequal competition is not only a safety risk but demoralizing for athletes on the losing side. Athletes from low-income high schools have had less experience playing organized youth sports on average, and struggle to compete with affluent schools. Most state high school classifications fail to address this, and as a result, low-income high schools are at a disadvantage. Many successful high school sport programs are from affluent public and private high schools with a large student body that have experience playing youth sports. Football in particular, is heavily affected by socioeconomics due to the high cost of equipment and fear of injury & medical costs. An analysis was conducted on Arizona high school football programs to determine the relationship between socioeconomics measured by free/reduced lunch percentage and a team’s strength. The results showed a moderate correlation (R2 = .491) between the two variables and demonstrated the influence of socioeconomics on football team strength. A formula proposal solution was derived by using an adjusted enrollment figure, and Calpreps football ratings to determine team classification placement for the postseason. Implementation of the formula in any sport will reduce the frequency of noncompetitive games, resulting in fair and safe competition.

In an increasingly technological world, people are spending more time inside than ever and less time outside with one another. Our goal is to create a new game that gets people off the couch and on their feet, spending quality time together. Three Way is a student-led effort to put an innovative spin on typical lawn games seen at tailgates and backyard barbecues, such as Cornhole and KanJam. Our mission is to bring new life to classic American tailgate games and provide outdoor fun to students and families alike for decades to come. The tailgate game industry is one that has seen little innovation over time as favorites like cornhole have been dominant standouts for many years. Even with this lack of new products, this industry has still consistently grown for the last 4 decades and is projected to continue to grow over the next decade. We believe that because of this growth, there is room for a new product in this space. Collectively, we have played a variety of sports in our lives, most notably football, basketball, baseball, golf, and hockey, and are very passionate about sports in general. We believe our extensive experience in sports gives us an advantage over competitors in the industry.

I built a database for ESG Intelligence (ESGi) Group, a consulting firm that advises law firms on implementing good environmental, social, and governance (ESG) practices internally as well as how law firms can better serve their clients with respect to ESG. This paper explores my decision-making process for the design of the database and the challenges I ran into while creating and populating the database. I turned a list of things that ESGi Group wanted to track into an entity relationship diagram (ERD), which I eventually turned into a relational database in MySQL. I further defined the contents of the database by mapping the ERD into a relational model, normalizing the relational model, and creating an attribute domain table. I coded the database in SQL, collected data in an excel spreadsheet (downloaded from AMLAW 200 and NLJ 500 purchased data, manually searching individual firm websites, and scraping law.com in R), and then inserted the data into the database. I ran into issues with data completeness due to the lacking regulation of firm transparency about ESG reporting, but this project succeeded in proof of concept rather than implementation. I also discuss security and privacy considerations, and ESGi Group’s possible options for further development of this project in the future.
