Marketing In The Digital Age, or MITDA is a start-up business that provides seminars and lectures on digital media marketing and social media algorithms to ASU students and small businesses. We work with social media influencers to host lectures and seminars on brand awareness at ASU, and then offer classes and consulting to small-businesses who are looking to expand their online brand awareness. The content that we focus on compromises many different aspects of digital media marketing: platform specific algorithms, trends, digital media content creation (such as Photoshop and Canva), influencer brand deals and sponsorships, and influencer consultations. With MITDA, ASU students and small businesses have the opportunity to hop on quick trends, build a marketable brand to Generation Z, and learn how to stay relevant in the new marketing world of influencers and content creators.

Habitual Health is a holistic health firm meant to provide the Arizona State University students with awareness of healthy practices. Our Founders Ava Bobbs, Mario DiVenere, and Jack Hammond have found that students have a severe lack of knowledge involving healthy practices including diet, fitness, and cooking. The combination of our strengths and complements to weaknesses puts the firm in a strong position to garner market share and provide value to our company. Throughout on-campus research, the team found that the average Arizona State University student does not feel that they have the sufficient means to be healthy, which is a huge misalignment that prevents the average ASU student from living a healthy lifestyle. This is where Habitual Health comes in, we are going to bridge the gap between the lack of information about healthy initiatives and the implication that living a healthy lifestyle is too expensive, difficult, and time consuming. Habitual Health is a paid platform where ASU students can go to access fitness plans, recipes, topical discussions and analysis, and other health related resources. The product we have established is an interactive, user-friendly website that includes various healthy recipes, nutritional tips and habits, and physical exercise routines. Our data is based on running the website from 01/20/2023 - 03/01/2023. Our company's value proposition is that students’ health would benefit long-term from our platform's resources. We have targeted the ASU Greek Community, which includes roughly 6% of the ASU population.1 We tested our product within the Greek community because of the tight knit nature of the community, as well as the communal kitchen system in the Greek Leadership Village making it harder for those individuals to cook for themselves. We expect to see a revamped community within the GLV, causing a positive impact across the entire campus.

We created an app that uses a 4-part circle system where users track an everyday activity in the following areas: diet, exercise, development, and mental wellness. Users form small groups with friends and family members to provide support to one another. Through tracking their daily activities, users can earn tokens which are redeemable for relevant discounts with partnership brands. The app also hosts a variety of ways for users to be recognized for their healthy routines such as challenge trophies, activity history, and other social features. Overall, Circle Up aims to improve the daily routines of individuals to propel them into a healthier lifestyle, without the pressure of a curated social media feed.

New Leaf was founded with the mission to address the environmental, health, and sustainability consequences of paper production today. We explored the sourcing and foundations of paper needs, supporting our assumption that paper can be created from agricultural waste. We solidified a business plan using agricultural waste after considerable sourcing research and expert and consumerism input. We determined that using forest foliage that is a potential fire hazard from a national forest could be used as a source to make alternative paper as well as contribute to sustainability efforts.

Protein crystallization is a technique for the formation of three-dimensional protein crystals, which is widely utilized by scientists, engineers, and researchers. Protein crystallization is a technique for the formation of three-dimensional protein crystals, which is widely utilized by scientists, engineers, and researchers. Protein crystallography allows for protein structures and functions to be studied. As proteins play a central role in biological systems and life itself, a deeper understanding of their structure-function properties is crucial to elucidating fundamental behaviors, such as protein folding in addition to the role that they play in emerging fields, such as, tissue engineering with application to the emerging field of regenerative medicine. However, a significant limitation toward achieving further advancements in this field is that in order to determine detailed structure of proteins from protein crystals, high-quality and larger size protein crystals are needed. Because it is difficult to produce adequate size, high-quality crystals, it remains difficult to determine the structure of many proteins. However, a new method using a microgravity environment to crystallize proteins has proven effective through various studies conducted on the International Space Station (ISS). In the presence of microgravity, free convection is essentially absent in the bulk solution where crystallization occurs, thus allowing for purely random Brownian motion to exist which favors the nucleation and growth of high-quality protein crystals. Many studies from the ISS to date have demonstrated that growing protein crystals in a microgravity environment produces larger and higher-quality crystals. This method provides new opportunities for better structure identification and analysis of proteins. Although there remains many more limitations and challenges in the field, microgravity protein crystallization holds many opportunities for the future of biotechnology and scientific development. The objective of this thesis was to study the crystallization of hen egg white lysozyme (HEWL) and determine the effects of both unit and microgravity on growth/size and quality of HEWL. Through preliminary trials using a universal ground-based reduced-gravity system, the crystallization of HEWL in a simulated microgravity environment was successfully conducted and the results reported are promising. The utility of continuous, scalable ground-based, microgravity platforms for studies on a wide range of material systems and behavior, such as, protein crystallization, has significant implications regarding its impact on many industries, including drug development as well as regenerative medicine.
