Barrett, The Honors College at Arizona State University proudly showcases the work of undergraduate honors students by sharing this collection exclusively with the ASU community.

Barrett accepts high performing, academically engaged undergraduate students and works with them in collaboration with all of the other academic units at Arizona State University. All Barrett students complete a thesis or creative project which is an opportunity to explore an intellectual interest and produce an original piece of scholarly research. The thesis or creative project is supervised and defended in front of a faculty committee. Students are able to engage with professors who are nationally recognized in their fields and committed to working with honors students. Completing a Barrett thesis or creative project is an opportunity for undergraduate honors students to contribute to the ASU academic community in a meaningful way.

This thesis discusses the options of keeping or relocating the Arizona Coyotes to Quebec City. The Coyotes recently were not able to renew their lease with the city of Glendale for their current arena, Gila River Arena. For the next three years the Coyotes will play in a 5,000 seat

This thesis discusses the options of keeping or relocating the Arizona Coyotes to Quebec City. The Coyotes recently were not able to renew their lease with the city of Glendale for their current arena, Gila River Arena. For the next three years the Coyotes will play in a 5,000 seat capacity arena at Arizona State University. Quebec City has been rumored to want to bring a NHL team back and already has a 18,259 capacity arena. In order to assess the highest valued future location for the team, this thesis provides an analysis of 3 different options: (1) move the team to Quebec City Canada, (2) build a new arena in Tempe, or (3) continue to play at the ASU arena. First, an overview of the Coyotes as well as the original Quebec City NHL team, the Nordiques, is provided. Next, a financial analysis of the 3 options is provided. The final section makes conclusions based on the analysis provided.

This honors thesis for Barrett, the Honors College at Arizona State University provides an analysis of a leveraged buyout (LBO) of Foot Locker. This thesis serves to demonstrate how a fictional private equity firm would acquire a company through an LBO. The project provides insight onto what private equity firms do, the background of Foot Locker, and an industry analysis on the sector that Foot Locker operates in. The thesis looks to provide a deeper understanding of the fair value of Foot Locker using a discounted cash flow (DCF) analysis, comparable company analysis, and precedent transaction analysis. Included is a pitchbook, the DCF model, and LBO model.

This project analyzed the utilization rates of respective factories for Company X compared to the Manufacturing Utilization Policy to identify discrepancies in the policy baseline trigger and when the factories are ramped to full utilization. The current policy bases three different factory types, ATM, DS/DP, and FSM all on the same baseline of FSM. This was originally set in place from a lack of sufficient data for the other factories and now that there is enough data to identify the utilization rates of each factory type, a more suitable baseline for each can be determined. If continuing to use the FSM baseline, Company X will be designating certain factories as underutilized, triggering the manufacturing utilization policy and inefficiently allocating the building expenses, thus increasing the cost per unit of products produced.

IoT refers to the evolution of devices that, connected to the internet, can share and integrate information, becoming an always-growing intelligent system of systems. As a leader in the semiconductor industry, Company X and its growing IoT division, have constant new challenges and opportunities given the complexity of the IoT field. The business model employed by the IoT division includes adopting and modifying existing technologies and products from its sister groups within Company X. Since these products are being leveraged by the IoT division, it makes indirect research and development allocation for said products much more complex. This thesis will address how the IoT division at Company X can approach this problem in the most beneficial way for the division and company as a whole through the analysis of two allocation methodologies: percentage of revenue (Allocation Basis 1) and percentage of direct research and development (Allocation Basis 2).
