In this paper, I discuss my findings from The Toyota Way, 2 Second Lean, and Lean Thinking, I present an analysis of my implementation of lean processes for Page Petal, and I recommend a set of lean<br/>philosophies that I found to be successful for e-commerce product-based small businesses. I also focus on how the economy plays an important role in the demand for goods, a major factor in<br/>which lean processes will ultimately be successful. The goal of this paper is to demonstrate the value of mindful risk-taking in entrepreneurship and to reveal what was effective with Page Petal in hopes of giving other small businesses insight into how to be successful.

Graytech Operations Management Simulation is an educational videogame that teaches the fundamental principles of operations management. It was coded from scratch in Java and is playable as an executable jar file. Designing the game required creating a business case, designing a production process, and turning that process into a playable program. The simulation serves as a simplified version of what the player will face in their professional careers, giving them a solid way to practice and experiment with introductory operations management principles in a low pressure setting. The game puts the player in charge of a simple factory floor. The player controls direct materials ordering, manages the capacities of each process, and identifies and responds to changing bottlenecks, all while managing limited financial resources. Using the principles and strategies taught in their introductory supply chain courses, the player will attempt to maximize profits by manipulating the production system. Through playing this simulation, the player will gain a higher understanding of operations management principles while also having fun in the process. The finished game, supplementary tutorial videos, and source code can be freely accessed online at www.graytechsimulation.wixsite.com/download.

This project examines the effectiveness and key performance indicators of state prisons across the country in order to establish how Arizona’s prisons compare. Variables such as the daily inmate cost, annual budget, and the percentage of the budget spent on healthcare are all examined for a measurable impact on recidivism rate, which is the rate at which individuals released from prison re-offend and return to prison. The findings and next steps for the correctional industry are slightly controversial but will prove effective in improving the industry.

The purpose of this paper is to discuss the history of artificial intelligence (AI) and its future implications in the healthcare industry. Utilizing information from research and medical journals, this paper will examine the foundations of AI and the people and events that influenced its development. Further, the various subsets of AI and its use in contemporary life will be discussed. While the technological evolution of AI will be discussed, this paper is not a technical treatise on the inner workings of AI software and technology, rather, it is a basic history of the development of AI and its respective subsets, and a look at current and potential future applications of AI. This information will be applied to the healthcare industry to discuss the history of AI in this field, detailing how AI was developed to find innovative solutions to complex medical problems. Finally, future prospects of AI in the medical industry will be discussed, explaining potential applications of this technology as well as various challenges and implications.

The objective of this project was the creation of a web app for undergraduate CIS/BDA students which allows them to search for jobs based on criteria that are not always directly available with the average job search engine. This includes technical skills, soft skills, location and industry. This creates a more focused way for these students to search for jobs using an application that also attempts to exclude positions that are looking for very experienced employees. The activities used for this project were chosen in attempt to make as many of the processes as automatable as possible.
This was achieved by first using offline explorer, an application that can download websites, to gather job postings from Dice.com that were searched by a pre-defined list of technical skills. Next came the parsing of the downloaded postings to extract and clean the data that was required and filling a database with that cleaned data. Then the companies were matched up with their corresponding industries. This was done using their NAICS (North American Industry Classification System) codes. The descriptions were then analyzed, and a group of soft skills was chosen based on the results of Word2Vec (a group of models that assists in creating word embeddings). A master table was then created by combining all of the tables in the database. The master table was then filtered down to exclude posts that required too much experience. Lastly, the web app was created using node.js as the back-end. This web app allows the user to choose their desired criteria and navigate through the postings that meet their criteria.

In recent years, cryptocurrency has become an increasingly popular new alternative investment among retail traders. Additionally, this attention has grown beyond retail traders and now presents itself as a prominent conversation among media, institutions, and academia. The purpose of this project is to explore the unappreciated aspect of cryptocurrency use such that it is capable of functioning in the foreign exchange markets (FOREX or FX markets). The inherent idea behind cryptocurrency is that it is accessible worldwide, protected, and verifiable via blockchain, holding the same monetary value regardless of location and minimizing the cost of cross-border payments by eliminating financial intermediaries in the traditional FOREX currency markets. Moreover, the goal of cryptocurrency intends to operate at faster rates than current traditional finance intermediaries. The article incorporates frequently debated aspects of cryptocurrency to identify the advantages and limitations of both cryptocurrency and traditional monetary systems. Thus, this research reveals the necessary fundamentals needed in cryptocurrency for the evolution in traditional financial structures and for widespread adoption to occur.

SEO stands for search engine optimization. It is a powerful data analytics tool that can enhance a company’s online platform. The goal of SEO is to utilize Google’s algorithm in order to have your website ranked #1 on the SERP (search engine results page). This will increase user traffic to your site because more users will click on your page. My eyes were first opened to the SEO industry during my internship at Clutch where we used a balance of intercept and intent traffic to capture a large target audience in order to convert them into paying customers. Even though SEO is a newer strategy, it has a higher return on investment than typical paid advertisements. With this, smaller companies can learn SEO and outsmart the bigger companies, while using a smaller marketing budget.

Electric vehicles (EVs) are at the forefront of revolutionizing the automotive industry as we know it. For the past century, transportation has relied on internal combustion engines (ICE); however, their source of power has been actively contributing to the dangerous buildup of greenhouse gasses. As we move towards a more sustainable future, interest in electric vehicles is growing rapidly. Predominantly powered by lithium-ion batteries, the automotive industry faces a new set of challenges in obtaining ethically sourced raw materials, meeting demand levels, and ensuring that their new supply chain is sustainable throughout the entire production lifecycle. Understanding the sourcing of key battery raw materials, the environmental implications of battery production, and the overall supply chain is crucial as this industry continues to grow. Is it possible to meet and sustain the demand for lithium-ion batteries? How can we ensure that these batteries do not do more harm than good to our environment in the long run? To answer these questions, this thesis will conduct a thorough analysis of present and future concerns and provide recommendations on how to ensure a sustainable and successful future with electric vehicles.

Fast fashion is one of the biggest players in the fashion industry today. It is characterized by volatile demand, fast lead times, short product lifecycles, and high consumption. To fit the demands of the industry, they have adapted agile and flexible supply chains to produce the latest styles as quickly as possible. This kind of supply chain has been enabled by technological advances over the past two decades. Artificial intelligence, cloud computing, RFID technology, and ERP systems have been the main technologies driving this industry and enabling its supply chain. The purpose of this paper is to address each of these technologies and their impacts on the fast fashion industry. It also addresses how these technologies can be integrated into the creation of the smart factory and how they can be applied to fast fashion supply chains as part of the fourth industrial revolution, known as I4.0.
