ABSTRACT Recent studies indicate that top-performing companies have higher-performing work environments than average companies. They receive higher scores for worker satisfaction with their overall physical work environment as well as higher effectiveness ratings for their workspaces (Gensler, 2008; Harter et al., 2003). While these studies indicate a relationship between effective office design and satisfaction they have not explored which specific space types may contribute to workers' overall satisfaction with their physical work environment. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to explore the relationship between workers' overall satisfaction with their physical work environments and their perception of the effectiveness of spaces designed for Conceptual Age work including learning, focusing, collaborating, and socializing tasks. This research is designed to identify which workspace types are related to workers' satisfaction with their overall work environment and which are perceived to be most and least effective. To accomplish this two primary and four secondary research questions were developed for this study. The first primary question considers overall workers' satisfaction with their overall physical work environments (offices, workstations, hallways, common areas, reception, waiting areas, etc.) related to the effective use of work mode workspaces (learning, focusing, collaborating, socializing). The second primary research question was developed to identify which of the four work mode space types had the greatest and least relationship to workers' satisfaction with the overall physical work environment. Secondary research questions were developed to address workers' perceptions of effectiveness of each space type. This research project used data from a previous study collected from 2007 to 2012. Responses were from all staff levels of US office-based office workers and resulted in a blind sample of approximately 48,000 respondents. The data for this study were developed from SPSS data reports that included descriptive data and Pearson correlations. Findings were developed from those statistics using coefficient of determination.

This quantitative, quasi-experimental study examined the effectiveness of three types of online guided-practice activities designed to increase learning of visual art concepts, the color concepts of hue, tint, shade, value, and neutral colors in particular, among fifth grade students in a large school district in the southwestern United States. The study's results indicated that, when students were given a limited amount of time to engage in practice activities, there was no statistically significant difference among the three types of guided practice and the control group. What was effective, however, was the instructional component of this study's instruments.

Individuals with high levels of neighborhood attachment provide a multitude of positive factors to neighborhoods. Research has demonstrated that increases in informal social controls, maintaining a well-kept area, and positive social ties are improved with higher levels of neighborhood attachment. Identifying the factors that lead to higher levels of neighborhood attachment has thus become an area in the literature that scholars have frequently studied. One aspect of neighborhood life that has been neglected in research is the role of police on neighborhood attachment. This study addresses the gap by exploring the role of police in influencing levels of neighborhood attachment. Data from the Seattle Neighborhood and Crime Survey are used to examine perceptions of police effectiveness on overall levels of neighborhood attachment, and the three different sub-concepts of neighborhood attachment. Results demonstrated that perceptions of police effectiveness had a positive relationship on all forms of neighborhood attachment. Suggestions for the roles of police in developing neighborhood attachment will be discussed, as well as the theoretical applications for future testing of neighborhood attachment. This study demonstrates the influence of police on daily neighborhood life.

This thesis will analyze the effects that the COVID-19 pandemic has had on Arizona State University's marketing efforts to new and current students in regard to budgeting, tactics, and effectiveness. The purpose of this thesis is twofold: to uncover the practices implemented by the university amid the pandemic and assess the impact that such practices had on their marketing effectiveness. Arizona State University (ASU) currently has over 75,000 enrolled students and is focused on innovation, entrepreneurship, and a deep commitment to serving the public interest during a time of rapid and complex societal change. These goals and objectives translate directly into ASU’s marketing strategy and content development, but with an ever-changing world landscape, it is imperative to analyze the key changes and strategic initiatives that were made due to the pandemic in order to assess how to best move forward. Empirical data was collected through 7 interviews with participants across various colleges and campuses at ASU to identify the holistic strategy pre- and post-pandemic and what the implications are for current and prospective students. The findings revealed that the pandemic was a catalyst for the transition to online recruitment and marketing tactics that proved to be more successful in the attraction of prospective students than prior strategies due to the outreach capabilities. Additionally, the pandemic forced Arizona State University to change their messaging to be more student-focused in order to resonate stronger with consumers. The adoption of new marketing strategies and tactics because of the pandemic ultimately proved to be effective in increasing enrollment at ASU.
