In an era that is reliant on technology, the extent of the Fourth Amendment’s applicability to this technology has subsequently become blurred. With more information trickling out of our phones with each passing day, the amount of data accumulated by corporations is respectively growing larger. The accumulation of such information is denoted as “big data”. Big data refers to large sets of information garnered by artificial intelligence. Such data sets can contain anything from an individual’s browser history to their medical records. Through mining of this data, corporations or the government can ascertain “protected personal information” (PPI). Whether society is aware of it or not, individual data is constantly shifting hands in the digital realm. For this reason, the question of whether such information constitutes protection under the Fourth Amendment must be clarified. With society’s utter reliance on technology, it would be difficult for citizens to prevent or avoid the dissemination of their PPI through their (sometimes) inadvertent waivers of their right to keep this information private. However, the benefits derived from big data may outweigh the trepidations of individuals due to its potential for administering a predictive approach to policing.

Camp Carey is an annual freshman orientation program that takes place before the beginning of the semester in late July and early August. As the incoming W. P. Carey classes continue to grow each year, so to does the size of Camp. Beginning this project, we looked at potential that we could directly impact the quality of the camp experience, and ensure that Camp remains a memorable and quality experience for all involved. Camp is directed and facilitated every year by W. P. Carey staff members and a group upperclassmen, the camp directors and facilitators. Due to the direct impact that these upperclassmen have on the camp experience, we decided to focus our attention on improving the training provided to these individuals, and to emphasize a process of continuous data collection and improvement. The director training is broken into three modules that focus on risk management, facilitator selection, and facilitator training. Each of the seven exercises in the director training is based on a tool or practice used by modern companies in project management and human resources management. They were designed with three goals in mind: to immediately increase the directors' level of preparedness for Camp, to produce a written record to be used by directors in subsequent Camp seasons, and to provide directors with an introductory level of experience with concepts and tools that will benefit them in their professional careers. The facilitator training portion centers around the creation of a 1 credit, repeatable hybrid course to both reward facilitators, train them in proper conduct and materials for camp, as well as collect valuable feedback from the facilitators. The creation of a larger spring training session, designed to prepare the facilitators for activity facilitation, emergency preparedness, and representing W. P. Carey and ASU, and the implementation of a summer review training session are designed to prepare facilitators to lead the best camp possible. Further, the essays and surveys involved in the class are set up to gather valuable information and feedback from the facilitators for further improving the program year-over-year.

This project analyzes aspects of ESports and gaming in relation to college/university students and college/university campuses. The specific focus of the project was establishing that there was an interest in additional Esports and gaming engagement on campus and then determining what manner of engagement was most desired by students. In order to discover the most popular form of Esports and gaming engagement for students, we held two events: a recreational ESports Competition and tutorials to teach students how to mod video games. After carrying out these events we established that an Esports Competition was a more popular form of engagement. However, we also established that both forms of engagement would be successful with proper marketing and execution.

In this paper we conduct an out-of-sample test on gross profitability and investment in the same manner as Davis, Fama, and French (2000) for the pre-Compustat period (1926-1955). In this paper we conduct an out-of-sample test on gross profitability and investment in the same manner as Davis, Fama, and French (2000) for the pre-Compustat period (1926-1955). We hand-collect financial statement data from Moodys Industrial Manuals using the company PERMNO list first created by DFF. In total, we collect data from 1,291 firms, largely industrial firms but with some utilities. We then run Fama-Macbeth (1973) regressions using gross profit, scaled operating profit, scaled net income, and investment along with existing variables like book-to-market, market equity, one-month reversal, and one-year momentum. We find that the premiums on gross profitability and investment are not significant for any part of our sample period. For the overall sample period as well as the first half (before the 1933 Securities Act), our accounting data is often missing or cross-sectionally inconsistent. Despite the better-quality data in the period after 1935, however, neither gross profitability not investment have significant Fama-Macbeth slopes. We believe this is caused by inconsistent and incomplete accounting data, chiefly the number of firms that combine SG&A and COGS data into one "cost" number and the inclusion of investment-like costs, like R&D, in COGS or SG&A. This causes gross profitability to not reflect direct economic profitability as closely as in prior research. However, net income has significantly positive coefficients during this period and is not subsumed by gross profitability; this contradicts prior research for the post-1962 period. More data cleaning and analysis is needed in order to form firm conclusions on the gross profitability, net income, and investment premiums during this period.
