Research on leaders indicates that strong leadership depends on certain behavioral factors as well as an established sense of trust and cooperation between leaders and the individuals they lead. In order to understand what has the greatest influence on an individual’s leadership abilities, this study was conducted to uncover what factors play the largest role in how an individual leads others and how they view others as leaders; the factors examined were extraversion, gender, honors college, class standing, and GPA. Along with this, the study was designed to determine the impact of ambiversion on leadership as well as the aforementioned factors. According to research, ambiverts are more dynamic and their behavior depends upon the situation at hand. In this study, a survey was conducted to gather information on students, assess their level of extraversion, and obtain their experiences both as leaders and when other individuals were leading them. Based on personality, extraverts felt more confident and effective in their leadership abilities, introverts were more authoritative in their approach to leadership and took charge of the group, and ambiverts did not feel confident or effective as leaders. Overall, women were more confident in their leadership abilities and felt they were more effective leaders. Women also are considered more team style leaders that encourage group members to participate and view success as a group effort. Men are more authoritative in their leadership style and believe the group should follow their rules. Along with this, women rated themselves as introverts less than men. Along other dimensions, W.P. Carey students are less about the people in their leadership style than other majors, and Barrett students are more focused on the task side of leadership than non-Barrett individuals. Additionally, students in the top GPA bracket are more team style leaders while students in the highest class standing are less team style with their leadership approach.

The purpose of this research is to determine how table-top tablets in restaurants are affecting customer dining experience. The data was collected through a survey that was administered to all individuals over the age of 18 who wished to participate in the survey. The questions in the survey focused on determining how tablets affected the customer's overall dining experience with respect to several key aspects of the customer's experience at the restaurant. In addition, the questions were intended to determine differences in personality, gender, age, and customers who had/did not have children under the age of 18 and how this affected the dining experience/tablet usage. Findings from the study demonstrate that table-top tablets are not providing a more positive experience overall to customers, but customers are enjoying the ability to pay on the tablets. Additionally, personality factors such as introversion and openness to experience do affect a customer's dining experience/tablet usage because individuals who are more introverted and less open to new experiences are slightly less likely to use the tablet and/or enjoy using the tablet. The findings from the study also help to show that various demographic difference do change how a customer uses the tablet, the customer's experience with the tablet, and whether the customer chooses to use the tablet or not. Furthermore, the results indicate that restaurants might be providing worse service than they were previously due to a minor reliance on these table-top tablets and a decrease in wait staff. Implications for these findings can be looked at from two different perspectives. This research can be helpful for not only restaurants possibly considering the implementation of table-top tablets, but also consumers/customers who are dining at these restaurants. Recommendations for future research are based on the findings from the study and the responses of the individuals.

In a global environment, innovation has become especially important to remain competitive in the market. Many factors affect the rate of innovation. Specifically, national culture significantly impacts a nation's ability to innovate. Using Hofstede's cultural dimensions [Power Distance, Individualism, Masculinity, Uncertainty Avoidance], this research attempts to explain a culture's effects on innovation. Based on data from the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), countries showing higher levels of innovation correlate with better quality of life and profitability amongst corporations in countries. Organizations can use the correlations identified between each of Hofstede's frameworks to improve company culture and increase rates of innovation. A low Power Distance and Uncertainty Avoidance coupled with an Individualistic culture had the largest positive effect on innovation.

The goal of this research is to answer the questions 1) What is innovation? 2) Why is innovation important? 3) How does leadership impact the effectiveness in driving innovation? 4) How can insight be taught to other individuals who would like to drive innovation in their own practice? By defining leadership characteristics, actions, and attributes, a tangible framework was created which can be utilized by any leader as a guiding point to drive innovation. Data for this project was collected through two channels: a survey which was administered to individuals who identified primarily as undergraduates and professionals, then interviews were conducted with individuals who are recognized as innovative leaders. Interview participants were selected based on recommendations from peers, awards, and accolades received. The questions in the survey focused on collecting data on the general perception and understanding of what an innovative leader is compared to traditional change management elements. Interview questions honed in on specific information regarding leadership approaches, group dynamic techniques, and personal characteristics in relation to leadership style. The findings from the study can be used for positive impact on universities and organizations.

The purpose of this thesis is to examine how employers recruit university students, and determine what methods are most successful. Many companies embrace online recruiting strategies such as Handshake, but some still combine a few strategies such as career fairs, university partnerships, club sponsorships, and other online platforms aside from Handshake in order to recruit students. Research for this study was gathered through the use of two surveys administered to Arizona State University students and corporate recruiters. The student survey focuses on what mediums students find most successful in their job and internship searches, as well as what values they look for in future employers. The corporate survey asks questions related to the efforts used to attract students for future internships and full-time job opportunities. The findings reveal that companies must leverage a variety of available resources, including both online methods and on-campus events in order to find the best-fitting candidates. Likewise, students must focus on branding themselves as adaptable through their materials and continue to utilize career fairs, as well as other resources, in their job search practices. This study has a number of practical implications for employers seeking to understand how to best recruit university students given the most popular platforms used today. Students will also find practical implications from this study as they can better understand how to successfully use the available resources to the best of their ability, and how to successfully get hired by companies recruiting from Arizona State University. Recommendations for change on the students and employers respective behalf are based on survey findings and secondary research.

Investment real estate is unique among similar financial instruments by nature of each property's internal complexities and interaction with the external economy. Where a majority of tradable assets are static goods within a dynamic market, real estate investments are dynamic goods within a dynamic market. Furthermore, investment real estate, particularly commercial properties, not only interacts with the surrounding economy, it reflects it. Alive with tenancy, each and every commercial investment property provides a microeconomic view of businesses that make up the local economy. Management of commercial investment real estate captures this economic snapshot in a unique abundance of untapped statistical data. While analysis of such data is undeniably valuable, the efforts involved with this process are time consuming. Given this unutilized potential our team has develop proprietary software to analyze this data and communicate the results automatically though and easy to use interface. We have worked with a local real estate property management and ownership firm, Reliance Management, to develop this system through the use of their current, historical, and future data. Our team has also built a relationship with the executives of Reliance Management to review functionality and pertinence of the system we have dubbed, Reliance Dashboard.

The purpose of this research is to define significant explanatory factors behind gendered differences in career expectations. The data was collected through a survey that was administered to undergraduate and graduate students who are in the beginning stages of their career development. The questions in the survey focused on determining the expectations that college aged men and women have for their future careers on a subjective and objective basis. In addition, the questions were intended to determine gender differences in four explanatory factors including personality, core self-evaluations, work life values, and gender fatigue. Findings from the study coincide with previous research in that women indicated lower career expectations on a monetary and hierarchical basis in the short term and at the peak of their career. The difference in expectations were found to be significantly correlated with gender differences in extroversion levels, beta work values, and gender fatigue, all of which are internal influences that help to explain the current gap in career expectations, and thus the gap in men and women's eventual compensation and advancement. The findings from the study also help to show that different expectations are caused by differences in how people define success. Implications for these findings can be looked at from two different perspectives. For decades, feminist movements were the approach, and equality was the goal. Now that our society claims gender equality, we are at a standstill in progression, even though there are still clear gaps in compensation and leadership positions. This research can be helpful for not only universities advising future graduates, but also companies currently seeking future employees. Recommendations for future direction are based on the findings from the study and the responses of the individuals.

This thesis will analyze the operations of two nonprofit organizations located in different parts of the world. One local and one international nonprofit organization was chosen for this thesis/creative project because of the diverse culture, customs and regulations in each setting. The paper will discuss the operations of St. Vincent de Paul, the Chandler Conference of St. Vincent de Paul, and Sri Sai Darshan Trust (SSDT). The paper begins with a brief history of nonprofit organizations followed by a detailed background on both organizations. The management (organizational structure), finances, marketing, and legalities will be discussed of each nonprofit. The paper will then examine the specialized projects of each organization throughout the year. A PEST, SWOT, value chain, Kraljic, spend, and demand analysis were conducted based off of the research on each nonprofit. The paper will then discuss the problems each organization exhibits and the potential solutions the nonprofits can implement into their daily operations in order to resolve them. This section analyzes the similarities and differences within each business area of the nonprofit organization. Short-term solutions to current business problems and long-term solutions to organizational problems will be discussed in this section. The conclusion is the final element of the thesis. In this section, a balanced scorecard will be created for each nonprofit organization. In addition, the authors will discuss what they learned throughout the entire process. The goal of this thesis/creative project was to integrate the knowledge and concepts from business (marketing, finance, management, accounting, supply chain management, and computer information systems), and find an application for each within nonprofit organizations around the world.
