As social media continues to grow, so does the need to have a strong online presence that exhibits a unique personal brand. However, with social media platforms ranging from Twitter to Instagram to LinkedIn, it is a challenge for Millennials to know how to build a personal brand that is appropriate for all potential audiences. More than just friends and family are viewing our social media profiles; it is common practice for potential employers too and it can be difficult to cater our social media for both. This thesis looks at how personal branding has evolved with the rapid expansion of social media and the relationship between the two. It also looks at the importance of personal branding and best/worst practices for social media. Although there is an emphasis of professional networking platforms in my primary research, I also discuss how social media affects our personal, along with our professional, relationships. There is also a focus on the types of perceptions people make about someone’s personal brand based off of what they see on social media. To better understand people’s perceptions of social media as it relates to personal branding, I conducted interviews with job recruiters and administered a survey, which tested recommendations collected from the first interviews.

This paper is a beginner’s guide to the product management (PM) career. The paper starts with an introduction to myself and my product management journey, as well as my purpose in writing the guide. Next, I cover the basics of a product management career, such as career path, salaries, job descriptions, responsibilities and characteristics of product managers, and the different types of product managers. I then go in depth on the product development lifecycle, the place where the product manager’s work resides. The product development lifecycle consists of: finding and planning the right opportunity, designing the solution, building the solution, sharing the solution, and assessing the solution. Product managers work cross-functionally with marketing, design, and engineering teams. After discussing each step to the process, I move into the topic of how to get the knowledge and skillset necessary for a product management job. This includes tips and advice on degree choice, books, websites, PM internships and full-time jobs, and how to prepare for interviews. The guide provides fundamental information about product management, getting a product management job, and where to go after to learn more.

After traveling to both Germany and Austria and attending traditional festivals such as Oktoberfest in Munich and the famous Christkindl Markets in Salzburg and Innsbruck, we were both inspired by our cultural and culinary experience. After traveling to both Germany and Austria and attending traditional festivals such as Oktoberfest in Munich and the famous Christkindl Markets in Salzburg and Innsbruck, we were both inspired by our cultural and culinary experience. This also fostered confusion as to why German and Bavarian cuisine was an underrepresented food category in the U.S.

We completed in depth secondary research, focusing on environmental trends (social, economic, technological, political/legal, and natural) that affect the business environment in America, as well as produced a current market analysis of the American restaurant industry. This market analysis includes the discovery and evaluation of the history of the American restaurant industry, its evolution, its forecasted trends, and more specifically, taking a closer look at the nearly visible presence German cuisine establishments currently represent in America’s marketplace. By uncovering forecasted trends and determining the important presence the restaurant industry holds in America’s economy, we confirmed that designing and opening a German inspired restaurant is a great investment in an industry that continues to grow and prosper.

Before settling on a concept, we tested three unique German inspired models. Option 1, Prost, uniquely resembles a bar. Prost is described as a very casual and spacious beer garden placing an emphasis on quality German beer and small shared plates or appetizers. In contrast, option 2, Geister Haus is described as an upscale sit down restaurant that not only provides a wide selection of beer, wine, and spirits, but also an extensive menu with traditional German plates. Geister Haus is meant to provide its consumers with the authentic German experience. Lastly, option 3, Das Good is a modern concept that creates a fusion of German and American culture by providing traditional German specialties with a twist.

After conducting a survey testing all three concepts, the feedback we received from our test subjects (41 individuals representing diverse demographics) confirmed that Das Good was the most interesting German inspired concept that they would most likely visit. However, Prost was a close second, and many respondents suggested a combination of the two concepts; that is how the finalized Das Good restaurant was formed. Das Good’s business plan includes:
Company mission and values centered around diversity, community, and celebration
Target consumer profile otherwise known as Jackson Nelson that represents the specific demographic and psychographic qualities of a potential consumer we intend to attract
Competitive analysis of three carefully selected primary competitors (The Yard at Culinary Dropout, Brat Haus, and Pedal Haus Brewery) located within the Valley
Beyond the details of our business plan, we placed an emphasis on the marketing campaigns and design aspects of Das Good. For example, we researched three specific locations in which we will consider to invest, and developed a full menu including item descriptions and prices. We focused on physical evidence of store blueprints including indoor seating and outdoor patio layout and explained the value of our community centered open floor plan. Finally, we crafted a two-fold marketing plan that integrates digital exposure via local influencers and customer engagement via prize-worthy games featured at music, arts, and food festivals.

Today’s job market favors the candidate as a result of the low unemployment rate in the United States. This requires companies to look beyond their typical recruiting techniques if they want to ensure they are hiring the best candidates after college in order to build their future leadership in the company. Throughout research for this thesis it became apparent that many of the recruiters surveyed during this study were not actively using Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) in their recruiting tactics. In addition, a lot of the career pages of companies that actively recruit at Arizona State University do not even mention the topic. Throughout primary research of students that attend Arizona State University, surveys were able to draw conclusions on the type of students that prioritize Corporate Social Responsibility in their recruiting seasons. From these surveys, it was found that students with higher GPAs who are ethnically diverse, female, with more than one internship experience, or graduating within the next two years on average chose to prioritize Corporate Social Responsibility over other traditional “perks” of jobs. Following the collection of survey data, in order to get a more genuine understanding of what students are looking for, there was a focus group conducted with nine (9) W. P. Carey School of Business students. This allowed for there to be a guided conversation about Corporate Social Responsibility and allow students to share their feelings about the topic and how they prioritize it when looking for jobs. This, in combination with the surveys of recruiters and students, made it very clear about exactly the kind of students that recruiters should be targeting. Therefore, it has become apparent that if recruiters want to hire candidates who are more experienced, diverse, and with higher GPAs then they should be incorporating Corporate Social Responsibility into their recruiting techniques. Whether that is advertising it on their career pages and at career events, asking questions about it in interviews, or starting a conversation with students about it, this will allow recruiters to find those students with a genuine appreciation for the topic.

While basketball has been traditionally regarded as an American sport, the National Basketball Association (NBA) has gained substantial traction outside the United States over the past decade. In order to further encourage attention from international fans and increase league profit, I propose that the league adds an expansion team to Mexico City. I believe that through thorough market research and conscientious brand development, the team be successfully integrated into both the local community as well as the league’s current fan base. Local infrastructure, player safety, border customs, and financials were all taken into consideration into this proposal. The purpose of this project is twofold: first, to advocate for league expansion of the NBA into Mexico City through discussion and exploration of both the anticipated opportunities and obstacles, and second, to design three brand concepts and then propose a final brand concept based off of qualitative and quantitative feedback systematically collected via a survey.

In this paper, I have designed a business model for a new type of fashion retail
store. This store will perfect the personal styling experience by utilizing customer and
apparel data to make individualized apparel recommendations. The format of this store
will heavily reduce the amount of search time for customers by only showing clothing
pieces that each person is likely to purchase, based on predictive analytics. In order to
plan this business model and determine whether a company of this style could be
successful, this paper includes research on the current environment of the fashion
industry, the company’s potential target market segmentation, and tactics for developing
the best customer offering.

The following case study covers Avnet, Inc., a global technology distributor and supply chain service company with a headquarters in Phoenix, Arizona and customers in over 125 countries within North America, Asia and Europe. The case includes a strategic overview of Avnet’s unique 100-year history and transformed business model, while also highlighting the company’s current business strategies. The hallmark of Avnet’s growth and success has been through over one hundred mergers and acquisitions which make up Avnet’s 2020 company ecosystem. The strategies presented in this case focus specifically on the automotive initiative, a strong growth area within the semiconductor industry, which consists of a two-part global transportation strategy for Avnet. The strategy accommodates both Strategic Supply Chain customers as well as Strategic Design Change customers, two main transportation customer types. The case then further explores the transformation of Avnet’s automotive strategy team from a regional to global focus. This research is accomplished through a literature review of market research from various sources on semiconductor market trends and best industry practices. The research also investigates the impacts on demand creation for Avnet through customer relationships. In addition to research and analysis, other information included in the case is derived from direct collaboration with Avnet employees on the cross-functional global team and employee interviews. The research and recommendations in this paper are presented with the goal of providing proof of concept on the global automotive initiative for Avnet and will be shared with the strategy team following completion of the case study.

Every professional sports organization relies on three pillars: money, fan engagement, and team performance. Within these pillars lie several subcategories, encompassing the entirety of an organization. Ideal sports organizations maintain a balance between these subcategories, not allowing one factor to heavily influence the others. Using data from 2008-2019, any relationships displayed between performance, attendance, and payroll by each team in the NBA and MLB will be quantified. A series of regression tests will uncover any correlations between three key statistics that generalize each pillar: payroll, attendance, and performance. A significant correlation between performance and attendance indicate a team has shown increased levels of attendance during seasons of improved performance. A significant correlation between payroll and performance implies that improvements in performance have typically occurred with a similar increase in payroll. Significant correlations between payroll and attendance show a team’s attendance typically declined when payroll decreased. The results of each test are compared on a league level and teams are categorized based on their combinations of significant correlations. Teams with no significant correlations between payroll, performance, and attendance have won the most championships over the past 12 years, and have the best organizational foundation moving forwards.

Influencer marketing is the latest phenomenon in the consumer marketing industry. Influencer marketing is the latest phenomenon in the consumer marketing industry. Successful influencer sponsorships close the gap between companies and their customers by capitalizing on the connection influencers share with their audience. Producing advertisements more organically and directly, coming from a trustworthy and relatable source leads to greater returns. Therefore, influencer accounts are becoming increasingly popular throughout social media, especially Instagram. For this reason, the main focal point of this paper is to describe how to effectively create an influencer brand by finding a niche and growing an engaged audience on Instagram. Our findings consist of three studies: personal interviews, creating an Instagram account, and analyzing twelve well-known influencers. We first analyzed the environmental trends impacting the social media industry and what this means for a growing influencer. Using our discoveries, we launched an Instagram account, featuring the Nordstrom Twins, learning from the first-hand experience of successful and unsuccessful content strategies. Then, through data collection and analysis of twelve unique twin influencer (twinfluencer) accounts, as well as personal interviews with industry professionals, we established an influencer business strategy. Our research conveys how to increase user interactions and grow an engagement rate on the constantly evolving Instagram platform.

The M&G Drive is a proposed venture project lead by Barrett seniors, Elijah Smith and Jenna Fitzgerald. This project aims to educate Arizona State University (ASU) students on the issues of food insecurity around the Phoenix valley and facilitate their involvement in helping alleviate this pressing social matter. Scientific research has shown significant inverse relationships between food insecurity and the following: mental and physical health, social skills, and academic achievement. As the largest public university in the nation, Arizona State holds a self-ascribed responsibility for the health of its communities. In order to address this issue on behalf of Arizona State and from the standpoint of college students, this proposed venture will encourage the ASU student population to reallocate their unused M&G Dollars (ASU’s on-campus currency) to go toward this cause. Rather than being absorbed back by the university system, unused M&G Dollars can instead be used to purchase non-perishables that will then be donated to the local Phoenix community in order to help fight against food insecurity.
