The world of business has become increasingly globalized over the years. Companies are seeking business internationally and it has become common to work with people from different parts of the world. It is imperative that those who work in business understand and recognize the differences between their home country and culture, and the country and culture of those with whom they are doing business. With that being said, students who intend on going into business post graduation must keep in mind this globalized mindset when applying for jobs. As a student in the W.P. Carey School of Business at Arizona State University, I learned how important this is after receiving my International Business certificate while studying abroad for a semester in Spain. I found that the skills that I gained and what I learned about myself, and the European culture helped shape the way I view the world of business. I also believe that this helped differentiate me from other applicants when applying for internships. I believe that every business student, if willing and financially able, should study abroad not only to gain an insightful experience, but because it helps place them above other applicants when applying for jobs or internships.This project included research to find evidence that supports this belief through surveys and interviews with business students who have studied abroad in the past, and through interviews with employers and recruiters from all over the country. The creative portion of this thesis includes a promotional video, using the student interviews, as well as my own personal experience, to further promote studying abroad for business students.

The purpose of this thesis is to better understand the current work and research being done by Supply Chain Management professors from universities from around the world. This paper includes an explanation of the research being done by four presenters, a summary of their work, and a reflection. These summaries and lectures allowed me to learn about current supply chain research and provide a focus for the rest of my thesis. The seminars include research being done by: Mark Ferguson, Edward Anderson and Rachna Shah. The preceding professors will discuss previous or current research. The second portion of this thesis will include a literature review of papers on the topic of corporate social responsibility and unintended consequences.

In looking at the world of fashion, it is hard to miss the many rental platforms that have become staples in the industry. While the business model makes sense for many consumers, it also feeds on many consumer trends and developing ideals. The driving purpose of this thesis is to better understand the success of rental platforms, to see what components of the industry are most important to the success of a rental company, and ultimately determine if rental will have a future in the next generation of fashion. The following research explores the fashion industry, rental’s place in that industry, and whether this new business model is here for the long haul. This research will prove vital in understanding the success of this new industry and the most important components that make up a successful rental business. Through this research it was found that the pillars of marketing, especially a deep understanding of consumers, and supply chain, have proven to be the most interesting aspects of the rental industry’s success. Specifically, the components of inventory management, transparency, consumer research, and pricing were found to be the most vital to any rental platform’s success.

The purpose of this thesis is to compare ecolabeling to conservation easements for facilitating multi-use land between food production and conservation. Biodiversity has been on the decline as human agriculture uses more land. According to Encyclopedia Britannica “Half of the world’s habitable land (some 51 million square km [19.7 million square miles]) has been converted to agriculture, and some 77 percent of agricultural land (some 40 million square km [15.4 million square miles]) is used for grazing by cattle, sheep, goats, and other livestock. This massive conversion of forests, wetlands, grasslands, and other terrestrial ecosystems has produced a 60 percent decline (on average) in the number of vertebrates worldwide since 1970”(Rafferty 2010). The purpose of this paper is to explore ways individual landowners and private businesses can continue to operate profitably on their land while reversing the harmful loss to biodiversity observed in the past 50 years. Two of the most popular methods of achieving conservation on workable land are ecolabeling and conservation easements.

American Logistics Aid Network (ALAN) is a non-profit logistics aid firm that provides supply chain assistance to non-profit organizations in times of crisis. It acts somewhat as a non-profit 3PL, connecting nonprofits seeking humanitarian aid goods, materials handling equipment, warehousing, logistics transportation, and expertise to an outstanding network of partner companies and organizations who help to deliver on their requests. In June of 2020, our team began an internship to identify and implement key process improvements for ALAN’s internal and external processes. This thesis is a summary of our findings, our solutions proposal, and their applicability to other non-profit organizations.

Meeting the food needs of a growing population, estimated to reach 9 billion by 2050 (Dou et al., 2021), is a global challenge as society continuously invests in technologies to increase food production. Meanwhile, inspired by sustainability and environmental stewardship initiatives, food production practices themselves have begun to shift. The production of alternative proteins is one such food technology that continues to attract the attention of the investors, the media, and stakeholders along the food supply chain. Dominating the market for alternative proteins are plant-based meat alternatives (“PBMA”) meant to satisfy consumers’ tastes and preferences for animal-derived proteins while minimizing environmental impact. Not only are PBMAs positioned to alleviate the effects of the livestock industry on the environment and climate (Dou et al., 2021), but also contribute to ancillary improvements related to animal welfare and human health issues. The current barriers to entry for food manufacturers interested in participating in the PBMA sector relate to research and development and product formulation, as well as the scalability of production given the extensive processing required to produce PBMA products. With this in mind, food manufacturers must anticipate production requirements and their relationships with input suppliers to support the growing demand for PBMAs. This analysis examines, in detail, the landscape of new product introduction of PBMAs, the production requirements for sustaining their global food demand, and presents insights into what is necessary to maintain and preserve flexibility in the supply chain for PBMAs.

The gender pay gap is a well-known issue that many organizations seek to mitigate. While great strides have been made, even more concerning is the gender wealth gap: the disparity between the wealth owned and retained by women in modern society. Solving this issue is even more difficult due to the engrained beliefs and behavior women exercise in regards to finance. To address the core issues of education and confidence within this realm, this thesis creative project centered around researching female financial values, knowledge, and confidence across nuanced disciplines to inform the brand strategy and messaging for a website housing financial literacy competencies for young females.
