Description
Research has found there is a lack of women present in the IS industry. In order to combat this problem, this research examines why women are not choosing IS majors at the university level. At Arizona State University, the Computer Information Systems undergraduate degree program is only 23 percent female. Many different factors can influence the decision to choose a major, so survey methodology was used to ascertain what factors were the most important to different demographic groups when making this decision. The study found no significant gender difference when making this decision, but rather a difference between specific majors. Genuine interest, interesting work and high career earnings were identified as the most influential reasons for choosing a college major. The results were used to create recommendations for the IS Department at ASU to implement in the next year and encourage more female participation in the CIS undergraduate degree program.

Description
In this thesis a community-based ride sharing mobile application, Ride Devil, will be introduced and created to provide services for communities such as Arizona State University and its students, faculty, and other affiliates to find safe rides around campus because campus population problem exists. This causes increased transportation costs, decreased parking space availability, and more transportation issues. The Ride Devil application itself is based off on the ride-sharing concept of transportation as introduced, above. Students, faculty, and other university affiliates will drive their own vehicles and use the Ride Devil services in order to coordinate pick-ups with members of its community. Not only is this form of transportation more cost effective than competing transportation models, taxis, but it also promotes safety, community, and educational assistance.

Theft as well as burglary rates have remained high all across the world. These thefts involve stealing expensive objects like cars, or breaking into homes and stealing televisions, or going to malls and shoplifting. Aside from these kinds of crimes, theft involving personal items like backpacks, laptops, or mobile devices is just as important. Travelers and students can be subjected to these kinds of thefts easily and unnoticeably. According to a report from Kensington IT, an estimated one laptop is stolen every 53 seconds, 70 million smartphones are lost each year, and 52% of devices are stolen from the office/workplaces with 24% from conferences. One way to protect these items is to use a security device to ensure greater safety. The iMovedAlarm is an affordable sensor alarm that notifies people when their belongings are being stolen while also deterring thieves from stealing those belongings. The iMovedAlarm is a module that consists of a sound alarm, an LED light, and sensor technologies that activate when an object leaves the vicinity of the owner. When a thief attempts to steal the object, the iMovedAlarm will know to sound a buzzer alarm, flash an array of LED lights, and send alerts to a user's smartphone or wearable devices. This can help deter a thief from continuing the crime as those around him or her will have a better notice of what is happening. In addition, if the thief continues on with stealing the item, the iMovedAlarm can be tracked with the user's smartphone so that the location of the items can be found. The iMovedAlarm utilizes Arduino technology to make the device even more user-friendly.

Description
How prepared are individuals to work in an environment with sensitive information? Do business students believe a data security course would be a valuable addition to their curriculum? This study investigates W.P. Carey's role in preparing its students for jobs in which they most likely will have to handle large amounts of important data. Roughly 500 students across varying majors and years of education in the W.P. Carey School of Business answered an assortment of questions on their computer habits, and responded to various scenarios to test their knowledge. The survey targeted three specific areas (Software Updates, Password Protection, and Phishing) which was believed to be most pertinent to the students' future roles as professionals. While a large number of those surveyed (roughly 65%) responded well to most questions, nearly a third of all the responses received indicated cause for concern or an indication of a lack of knowledge. It was suggested (and many respondents agreed) that further education be provided to students for their own well-being in addition to the wellbeing of their future employers.
