The purpose of this project is to explore minority mentorship through a series of interviews recorded and shared in a podcast-like format. I sat down with student leaders, Arizona State University faculty, and community leaders in the Phoenix Metropolitan area who have been both a mentor and mentee at some point in their life to learn about the impact mentorship had on their experiences.

Samantha and Rachel both have a history in gifted education and wanted to create a safe space for the two of them and their peers to discuss the effects gifted/ accelerated education has had on them, specifically pertaining to burnout. To best dive into this matter, Gifted Kid Syndrome podcast was born! During which, our hosts interviewed students and professionals, allowing everyone to share their pasts, their hopes for the future, and what they’ve learned along the way regarding mental health, identity, education, and personal success.

With the assistance of my thesis committee, I created a podcast to fulfill my objective of interviewing survivors of sexual abuse/grooming practices and their support systems. I utilized this method to have in-depth discussions and provide people with a safe space to share their experiences. By doing so, we were able to reflect on the areas in which professionals can improve on recognizing signs of abuse in their communities. My goal was to show how training teachers to recognize signs of trauma is essential for effectively assisting the population we serve. Ultimately, this came down to what instruction was taught in the Teachers College. Curricula centered on properly managing trauma in the classroom, including sexual abuse, should be required for courses in the upper and lower division degree program for Mary Lou Fulton Teachers College.

Superstition is an urban fantasy fiction anthology podcast. Each episode follows a new pair of characters, revealing the supernatural community hidden within the southwest suburb of Superstition. In Superstition, vampires, werewolves and magic have made their home among chain restaurants and malls, neighborhood parks and massive parking lots. In recent weeks, both human and supernatural have gone missing and everyone has a different belief in who and why this is happening. Some simply want life to be as quiet and calm as they remember it to be and other will take matters into their own hands to protect their home. “Thicker than Water” follows two vampire sisters, one of which is in the midst of running for Superstition City Council and the other who has decided to take the future and safety of their community into her own hands in the form of Superstition's first vampire coven. The two disagree about how they should be leading Superstition and reflection on their shared trauma leads to high tensions and questioned trust.

Jack Grant and Sam Truman, two seniors at Arizona State University, discuss the latest in major sports, current events, and various other topics. Within their informal discussions, Jack and Sam "just say" whatever comes to mind and never shy away from a hot take. Most episodes include only Jack and Sam, but some entertain numerous guests and differing formats. The podcast is supported by a multimedia website, including written articles and interactive features. All components were further marketed through social media outreach and engagement. The Just Saying Podcast thesis paper analyzes podcast history and what has made them such a popular media outlet. Further, the paper discusses what makes The Just Saying Podcast a unique product.
