This thesis looks at the digitalization process holistically. It recognizes that for a digitalization initiative to be successful, it takes input from multiple departments and experts from diverse backgrounds. This paper will be evaluating the interconnectivity needed between the supply chain and human resources departments to spearhead the creation of a digitalization team. Both sectors must have a firm understanding of the other’s needs, in order to acquire, train, and maintain people who will have the necessary hard and soft skills to develop the digital processes. After conducting extensive research around hiring and training, the researchers identified several best practices that companies can utilize to build a successful digital logistics team. Regarding hiring, companies can improve their current practices by collaborating with universities to create synergy between enterprise needs and college curriculum, as well as utilizing talent acquisition data analytics. They must also employ targeted recruiting strategies to attract high-quality talent and create explicit and attractive job postings. In addition to hiring, companies must also continuously improve their training initiatives to ensure their team’s success. In order to do so, firms should conduct training needs analysis, personalize training using technology, offer non-traditional learning modalities, provide holistic supply chain training, and create a learning culture.

Background: Homelessness has a culture based on environment and many volunteers working in a clinical setting with people experiencing homelessness do not have personal experiences or training that prepares them to deliver culturally competent care. This study aimed to determine if implementation of a cultural competency intervention was effective in increasing volunteers’ comfort level with communicating with people experiencing homelessness and meeting their needs.

Method: Participants completed a survey regarding their comfort level in interacting with people experiencing homelessness and their preparedness in meeting their specific needs before and after receiving an educational presentation on cultural competency with working with people experiencing homelessness. The survey questions comprised Likert scale and open-ended answers.

Results: Of the Likert scale pre and post surveys, statistically significant differences were observed for questions 1 through 4, but not question 5.

Discussion: The results indicated support for the benefit of cultural competency training for student volunteers serving people experiencing homelessness in a clinical setting.

With the rapid increase of technological capabilities, particularly in processing power and speed, the usage of machine learning is becoming increasingly widespread, especially in fields where real-time assessment of complex data is extremely valuable. This surge in popularity of machine learning gives rise to an abundance of potential research and projects on further broadening applications of artificial intelligence. From these opportunities comes the purpose of this thesis. Our work seeks to meaningfully increase our understanding of current capabilities of machine learning and the problems they can solve. One extremely popular application of machine learning is in data prediction, as machines are capable of finding trends that humans often miss. Our effort to this end was to examine the CVE dataset and attempt to predict future entries with Random Forests. The second area of interest lies within the great promise being demonstrated by neural networks in the field of autonomous driving. We sought to understand the research being put out by the most prominent bodies within this field and to implement a model on one of the largest standing datasets, Berkeley DeepDrive 100k. This thesis describes our efforts to build, train, and optimize a Random Forest model on the CVE dataset and a convolutional neural network on the Berkeley DeepDrive 100k dataset. We document these efforts with the goal of growing our knowledge on (and usage of) machine learning in these topics.

Recovery from exercise has become an evolving aspect of all sports performance. Increased research has led numerous individuals to understand and utilize the modalities that have become available. Methods such as Cold Water Immersion (CWI), Contrast Water Therapy (CWT), and Hot Water Immersion (HWI) are some of the modalities growing in popularity as well as utilization by athletes across all sports. This paper aims to examine and analyze evidence across several research journals that evaluate the effectiveness and also application of these recovery methods. Cold and heat exposures on the body can have a drastic positive impact on athletic performance. However, without the correct knowledge and guidance, these methods can augment, mitigate, and even diminish the effects of adaptation and exercise. This thesis aims to examine research journals and extract specific practices based on empirical evidence. This is to form proper deliverables and protocols for athletes to use for ideal adaptations and recovery for performance.
