Description
While the use of super-cooled gasses as a tool for the study of macroscopic quantum effects has only become experimentally viable in recent years, theories involing such gasses have existed almost as long as quantum theory itself. Albert Einstein first proposed the concept of what is known today as a Bose-Einstein condensate; the driving principle behind his theory was a deliberate exploitation of the symmetric property of multiparticle bosonic wavefunctions. Specifically, since the Bose-Einstein statistics of bosons dic- tate that any arbitrary number of particles can occupy the same state, it is possible in an extremely low energy environment for particles on the order of Avagadro's number to all condense into the ground state. This state of matter is now called a Bose-Einstein condensate (hereafter referred to as a BEC). This state of matter is interesting because having such a large number of particles in the same state allows for the observation of macroscopic quantum effects.

Description
Children's literature is a comparatively new concept that has changed as the view of children and childhood has changed. The idea that books written for children are more than just amusement and that these books instill values and pride in one's culture has been approached very differently in the United States and Russia. While there are universal morals and common themes in children's literature, there are just as many culturally-dependent ideals that make children's literature and its translation an enlightening way to study the culture of a people or nation and ease the tensions between emerging global and traditional national lessons in children's literature.

Description
The Community Action Research Experiences (CARE) Program collaborated with Maricopa Association of Government to assess the needs of domestic violence victim advocates in Maricopa County to determine how their work could be enhanced through additional advocacy training and support services. Data were collected from 87 participants over a one-month period by distribution of an electronic survey. Sixty participants completed the survey, and 27 partially completed the survey. Only the data received from the 60 participants who completed the survey were used in reporting the results. The results indicated a perceived need for more training for advocates, specifically for advocates during their first year on the job. The results also indicated that while domestic violence victim advocates work in different agencies, they expressed significant interest in working collaboratively with advocates from other fields to increase cooperation and coordination among agencies to ensure that victims receive the best possible services.

Description
The lonely, empty face panhandling on the street corner has a story to tell. At first glance, most people write the homeless off as less than worthy. However, there is a deeper connection and understanding of relationships and a sense of community unseen by the majority of passer-byers. Amidst the humdrum beat of every day life, there is toil to find basic necessities such as food, water, sanitation, and a place to rest. At the same time, there is laughter and friendship as they help one another through the hostilities of their circumstances. Combining the creative elements of photojournalism and qualitative interviewing, the basic daily needs and struggles of the homeless will be delved into to answer how friendship is pertinent to survival on the streets.

Description
This project uses a creative text to prompt dialogue concerning the diverse expressions of religiosity observed among evangelical Christians today and the conformity of these expressions to what is generally considered orthodoxy within the evangelical community. Trigger scripting, "the use of carefully selected scripts of literature intended to...trigger planned-for responses from specialized audiences," serves as the project's methodological basis (Valentine, p. 7). The operative script, Abide, is comprised of the plot points of a feature-length film story and the first act of the narrative in screenplay format. Characters, themes, and dramatic situations are constructed such that they reflect the characteristics of contemporary evangelicalism. Additionally, the story structure is loosely adapted from John Bunyan's The Pilgrim's Progress. Stripped of its explicit theological thesis in order to allow the audience opportunity for interpretation interaction, this allegory as it is thus adapted mainly functions as a model for presenting religious subject matter in a didactic manner (Valentine). Research in performance studies has shown that the performance of guided texts can create opportunities for learning, and even attitude change, among specialized audiences (Rassulo and Hecht). In that vein, this project is intended to encourage evangelicals to assess the effects of their religious practice.
