<dc:description>This thesis project aims to develop a comprehensive Speech and Debate curriculum specifically designed for Great Hearts Academies, with an initial focus on implementation at Cicero Preparatory Academy. Inspired by the transformative impact of collegiate-level forensics programs, the curriculum seeks to provide high school students with opportunities to build essential skills in public speaking, critical thinking, research, and constructive argumentation. The curriculum will be aligned with the mission and academic standards of Great Hearts Academies, ensuring it meets the expectations of a classical charter school model.

The project intersects the fields of education and communication studies and involves a comparative analysis of existing high school speech and debate programs, along with a thorough review of Great Hearts’ curricular and administrative requirements. Collaboration with experienced high school coaches and school administrators will be essential to navigate logistical, pedagogical, and institutional considerations.</dc:description>
