<dc:description>In early 2023, Arizona State University (ASU) launched the University Internship Application (UIA) to enhance its student placement process for all colleges and academic units who support student placements and internships. This dissertation focuses on three colleges’ resistance to its implementation, from the perspective of unit leadership and staff involved with student placements. Using a systems thinking approach and change theories, this study identified key factors behind the resistance, such as uncertainty, fear of change, and accreditation requirements. To address these issues, four consultative sessions were held with each college to foster communication and collaboration among stakeholders. Guided by the research-based Switch Change Framework, this study highlights the need for a more inclusive strategy that engages all levels of the organization. By addressing stakeholder concerns, ASU can better embrace innovation and mitigate resistance to large-scale change.
