                  <dc:description>This thesis analyzes the complex history of the portrayal of various social groups regarding race, gender, and sexuality on the reality television program Survivor. To obtain a more personal perspective on how such representations play out on the show, I contacted numerous former contestants between May and July 2024 to see if any were interested in answering questions I had regarding their thoughts and experiences on the show. By analyzing the responses of six former contestants on how they saw their respective identities represented, it becomes apparent that CBS and Survivor production’s efforts to diversify the program are complicated by not only the conventions of reality television, but also the need to appeal to a mass audience. </dc:description>
