The abundance of food waste negatively affects our society in several ways, including both economically and environmentally. Creating a partial solution could be another small step towards knocking down this vicious worldwide problem. This partial solution would be an app where people can enter the food they buy which would then be calculated to when it would go bad. Additionally, the app will send reminders to the users reminding them to eat or make use of their food as well as offer links to recipes that will aid in the usage of that particular food. One of the many reasons why food goes to waste is because people are unaware of whether or not their food has gone bad. Presenting this information with consumers will allow them to focus more on how to use their food before it goes bad, thus representing a helpful solution to a major cause of food waste.
