<dc:description>This thesis examines the evolution of story-based show design in drum corps shows from 1972 to 2024. Developments in the use of drill design, music choice, choreography, acting, costuming, props, audio sampling, and narration have all contributed to the change from the military-style 'variety show' design at the founding of DCI to the more theatrical total show concepts seen today. This thesis explores the developments in story-based show design over the four previously defined eras of show design in drum corps. Additionally, it defines two new eras, the Theatrical Program and the Full-Production Era, and examines developments in story based show design within these eras.</dc:description>
