<dc:description>This thesis explores the Montessori teaching curriculum and its integration with the Heroic Journey (HJ) program at Villa Montessori School, specifically focusing on the middle school campus for students aged 12-15. Montessori education, created by Maria Montessori, emphasizes hands-on, child-centered learning, fostering autonomy, problem-solving, and community engagement. The HJ program is inspired by Joseph Campbell’s monomyth of the hero’s journey, and provides adolescents with a developmental framework to navigate the transition from childhood to young adulthood. This program supports social, emotional, and cognitive growth, while emphasizing goal setting and self-reflection. The research investigates the interaction of the Montessori curriculum and the Heroic Journey program through qualitative data from interviews with students and administration, and explores how this combination aids adolescent development. Overall, this thesis aims to demonstrate the lasting impact of the Heroic Journey program and its relevance for guiding adolescents through crucial life transitions, and its future directions in the current technological landscape.</dc:description>
