BDCs are a type of specialty finance company that offers debt and equity financing to lower middle market and middle market sized companies in America. The thesis has a qualitative component that describes the history, growth, and implications of the industry. The thesis also has a quantitative component where research questions were proposed and answered with supplemental data analysis. Questions range from how industry specific variables correlate with each other via regression analysis to how BDCs compare to traditional banks.
