In recent years, Alternative Vinyl Records’ popularity has grown significantly, defying prevailing trends of the digitally dominated music industry. This phenomenon sparked interest in how Graphic Designers within the music industry can understand and capitalize on user relationships to vinyl, prompting an exploration into the underlying factors contributing to this revival. The central focus of this thesis is to delve into the resurgence of vinyl records by thoroughly examining the consumer relationship with analog music. This Thesis will encompass a comprehensive review of vinyl design spanning from 1960 to the present day, aiming to analyze prevalent design elements and their evolution over time. Analyzing the influence of music streaming platforms to gain an understanding of the interplay between analog and digital music, to discover design solutions that enhance both physical and digital-focused designs. This Thesis investigates the consumers and artists preferences between analog and digital music. Moreover, exploring opportunities for expanding into other physical and digital delivery formats within an Album release. Subsequently, this thesis will synthesize a comprehensive plan outlining design strategies aimed at extending consumer relationships from analog music to other merchandising and music streaming. Implementing this plan, developing an album, complete with the desired deliverables to showcase the innovative strategy.
