Description
This thesis is the foundation of a grant application for the Justice and Equity Honors
Network (JEHN), a collaborative initiative between Barrett, The Honors College at Arizona
State University, and other Honors Colleges across the United States. JEHN aims to empower
undergraduate students to become informed and engaged advocates for social justice and equity. The program provides students with opportunities for in-depth exploration of complex social issues, fostering critical thinking, dialogue, activism, and community engagement. Through a combination of academic coursework, experiential learning, and community-based projects, JEHN seeks to broaden students' perspectives, deepen their understanding of social injustices, and cultivate their skills as change agents.
The grant proposal outlines the program's objectives, methodology, personnel, and
budgetary requirements. It emphasizes JEHN's unique approach to promoting social justice,
including its focus on issues of justice and equity, interdisciplinary curriculum, integration of
theory and practice, and emphasis on collaboration and community building. The proposal also highlights JEHN's commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, ensuring that all participants feel valued and empowered to contribute their unique perspectives and experiences.
The thesis will then provide several recommendations for instructors regarding the
program to be applied for future cohorts. Overall, this foundational grant application seeks to
support and enhance the JEHN program, enabling it to continue its valuable work in
empowering undergraduate students to become catalysts for social change in their communities and beyond.
